'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Trust Us, We Are NOT In Dreamland!!!!

Paul Lambert in the www.express.co.uk says Aston Villa fans are in dreamland if they think the club can afford star names to dig them out of yet another crisis.

Similar quotes in www.dailystar.co.uk

Hence, I assume, not many press links for me to report for the much needed players and experience needed to keep us up this season.

www.birminghammail.co.uk also:

Amidst questions about his transfer plans for the current window, Lambert was asked: "When fans say things like 'we need Joleon Lescott, we need Scott Parker`, are they in dreamland?"

To which the Villa boss replied: "Yes, money, I think that`s the reality of it. We can`t do it."

So there you go, no transfer links for you folks. We might get one or two if we are lucky apparently.

And I think I`ll throw in an unhappy smiley face as well..... :(

Solely on your shoulders now then Mr Lambert to get us out of this mess.
son_of_cher
Is he having a pop at randy? I think he'd obviously love to bring lescott in but seems randy has ordered him to shop in primary rather than selfridges
Deanovilla
Gotta go into Europe or Africa and pick up another Vlaar, another Laursen, another Ba.
PiperUK
Beginning to concede the fact we will be relegated. Just can't see us turning it around now. Even more so if this is to be true.
Greenslade92
I don't expect "top" players, just "experienced" players. If he is lumping them together, then we are doomed Captain Mannering.
Pride of Lions
Lambert sure knows how to up the confidence levels doesn't he ? Never been so pessimistic about Villa...let's face it, if it wasn't Villa and we paid to watch this crap, we'd all be asking for our money back. We won't sign anyone any good because noone wants to sign for a relegation bound club....booooo Lambert !
MASON_PARKER
same as greenslade. think im prepared for relegation now after that. i think we wont even finish 18th. i think at this rate we will finish 20th.what has happened to aston villa?
colavfc
Not lambert's fault. Randy says we can't afford it. We couldn't ******** afford it under MON but we still did it. This is Randy's fault. No arguments. Randy can definitely afford it but wants to make a profit. It doesn't happen overnight. You need to invest and achieve success and then build on it. The monies will be made in the long run if a sensible and competent plan is executed. Boom and bust or waste and scrimp are not sensible or competent plans.
Villan444
This is nothing new. We're not going to sign someone for 10 Million and pay them 60k a week, 240,000 a month. This is the whole reason we are doing what we are doing. However, the idea that we are deluded is slightly insulting. a under no illusion.
Villa_Grizzly
Agree Villan444 boom and bust is not the answer
midbedsvillan01
We have now cut the wage bill like randy wanted... It will be impossible to keep it down and stay up! Sounds like randy was preparing us for the championship!! I'm so angry with him!
King villa
Lambert will relegate us.

Villa_Grizzly
Just listened to Lamberts pre match press conference. He is so impressive. I have faith were going in the right direction. I believe.
Villa_Grizzly
need to sell bent and buy quality (experienced) defensive midfielder. weimann has stepped it up, benteke is quality and need more from gabby. after liverpool, it all looked pretty rosy, so it is 100% about confidence. need a bit of luck and lots of determination and we can get back on track
ric112
Steven Gerrard has said we have a team will be great players in two or three years but we need experience! So, now, even the other clubs big players are feeling sorry for us and putting the message out...it's not Lambert being deaf it's RL trying to recoup in two seasons all his spunked money in the last four. I lay a large part of this at Faulkners door...he was a forerunner in bringing McRelegator in believe me...he's got his FA job and clearly doesn't give a damn or else he'd be releasing statements to the contrary. Time to invest again Randy, just a bit more, just to consolidate, then you can sell us as an EPL club not a Chumpionship one. WE MUST BUY PLAYERS. Hell, at this rate I'd take Bellend, Bar-stard-ton and the immense Kevin Davies to start with. Then I'd offer Hangelaand a four year contract!!!!!
koolbill
What have villa become if we can't capture players that can't get in the man city or spurs team?
leelindsay
*****ing in the wind...
CDX_EIRE
Well, what are we going to do about it lads? Sit on our arses moaning - or start to shout about it? Protest down at VP. Protest until Lerner sells up! REVOLUTION.
PiperUK
if we lose today and then again to Bradford...I think you'll see a whole different atmosphere amongst Villa fans...at the mo we're just worried and moaning, if we lose both of those games...it'll be very uncomfortable for both Lambert and Lerner. It never rains but it pours down B6 !
MASON_PARKER
In fairness the headline in this article is not what he said. He was asked a very leading question with the journo using the word dreamland. We know we can't pay the likes of Lescott what they are on at City.
Ams78
Well what can i say, our owner is leeting the club and fans down IF he fails to back Lambert with the required funds/wages required to keep this great club up in the top flight, it really is a very worrying time to be a Villan we have all been through hell the past three years it looks like that period may be nothing compared to what lyes ahead, why oh why risk relegation Randy why???
CLIVETHEVILLAN
I can see the Iceberg, clearly, no fog etc, I can see it in plain view, but it doesn't matter, lets hit it and hope for the best eh? Pathetic!
kojak
Screw you lambert, you have lost me with those comments. Its called ambition mate, those same fans have chanted your name and supported you during the worst start and worst results in our history. I now have go up the m54 to watch your shower of *****e team disgrace the villa park turf again. You better check yourself before you wreck yourself.
bikini inspector
That seems to be the situation Kojak...

Lerner needs to sell now, let's face it, he only bought Villa to escape from a failing marriage. He has no personal business sense, taking over Daddies companies and failing at that! When he came in Doug Ellis has told him he can earn a nice living without having to do much at all - and he's milking it for all he's worth! Sell up and do one!

***** me - I fail to see how Delph and Nsomnia get a start today ahead of Gabby and Ireland. Why does Ireland keep starting on the bench. is it a hint ?
malacaxeta
I'd start with them malacaxeta. Ireland offers nothing and Gabby has got complacent over the years by getting a starting place regardless.
Villan444
V444 has a point Mala'. However I think all four of them are rubbish anyway...been saying it about Gabby for three seasons...Delph is, well, what does he do? He's not an enforcer, passing is like NRC...same goes for Ireland. Ship them out whatever happens.
koolbill
Beneteke just destroyed their RB and smashed one over!!!! Close!!!
koolbill
And Delph just smashed their RMF. Nice.
koolbill
But he isn't an enforcer no bill?? ;-D. If he was next to another decent player then he could do his box to box play but he normally has to do everything. Bannan out!!!
Villan444
we r screwed
koolbill
Why is it when they attack, they have four men in striking positions and three ohter forward lying midfielders waiting for a crack...why is it when we have a corner we simply hope it'll land on one of our players heads and not one of our players come running in from the edge of the box to give it one? There are just basic things that our team do and don't do - all to our detriment. School boy stuff.
koolbill
Swansea are in for Tom Ince (7Mil) and QPR are in for M'Vila (8Mil). Paper talk? Possibly. If those links are true, though, then Lerner should just do one. 'Dreamland'. Nice to know the depth of unfulfilled ambition at AVFC. Does Lerner actually know Villa won the European Cup once? Lambert may-or-may-not be a decent long term manager. It's too early to tell. Lerner is a cheapskate, asset stripping profiteer.
VillaWillRiseAgain
Bannan out, Delph too. He can't even keep possession on the edge of their area with out Cruyff-turning himself inside out!!! We've just been outplayed 58 to 42 percent by Southampton! Disgrace!! Second half we need two quick goals!
koolbill
time for lambert, lerner and faulkner to f*** off. zero patience remaining. you have made enemies for life now learner.
onlyteaminthemids
Bannan on for Holman...cue: 40 yard aimless diagonal passes and no ball winner!
koolbill
Why aren't Villa in for Ince and M'Vila? Even jokers like Mike Ashley and Al Fayed have proved more competent owners than RL.
VillaWillRiseAgain
I've got no question in my mind that Lerner needs to find a buyer who CAN invest in Villa. He's done a lot of good things for us, but when we're staring in the abyss and we're not facing the investment we need to stop us being relegated, then you have to ask the question, why is he still here? Most Villa fans can now see that he is not going to do what it takes to prolong our stay in the premiership. All this nonsense about not putting Villa in debt is just that; nonsense. What's the bigger risk, not investing so we get relegated and lose out on 50mil, or invest 20 mil and keep a good portion of that? If we go down, there's only one person I'm looking at, and it certainly won't be Lambert.
johnnyuk
With 15 mins to go, I have to accept we are relegated. I have nothing left to add for the rest of the season unless we go on a wondrous run.
koolbill
Crap...thankyou and goodnight.
MASON_PARKER
No, after that result, we definitely are NOT in dreamland. Nightmare yes maybe.
Villan444
Up to now I'd backed Lerner but surely with the way we were playing in December players were lined up ready for January? Begs the question how penny pinching the board and owner are going to be. I've never seen Villa outside the top flight but I'm pretty sure I will next season. Unless we're going to spend big on players, which we're not, then average or decent players will take time to settle in. I'm so disappointed in this great club.
villaiain
Sorry, I meant once great club. Great no longer.
villaiain
A defeat to Southampton is surely the catalyst for change? Randy has never been realistic with his premise that that football clubs can be a profitable business, without investment. He has a manager who he has constricted beyond reason and who will not succeed with his very intransigent approach to playing only kids. I am prepared for the championship, I have been there before, and if we drop out of there I will still support the Villa, but I am not happy and after 60 years of supporting my team I feel that the club is again in the hands of people who don't really care what happens and will disappear when they get bored or it suits them.
Pershorevilla
If Delph is getting 55% on the Vital motm poll then we are in trouble....
juddy
Why do Villa fans views constantly get misrepresented in the media ? As far as I am aware most Villa fans wanted to "loan" Lescot & Parker nobody mentioned expecting to sign them on a pemanant basis we are well aware we cant afford their wages. lol juddy I am with you there
