Joleon Lescott No Go For Villa

Joleon Lescott No Go For Villa

OK, so one of the decent links to AVFC has been ruled out.

The much needed experience for the back four would have been solved with the purchase of Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott but that move has been ruled out.

The Mirror carry a statement, I assume from his agent (?)

'Joleon Lescott has ruled out the possibility of any loan move during the January transfer window. Despite speculation linking him with several Premier League clubs, Joleon has no desire to leave Manchester City.'

Roberto Mancini also said the other day they need players inward, not outward (yeah, their squad is so threadbare... LOL)

Hmmm... Oh well move Villa. Obviously he prefers sitting on his rear quarters and picking up his wages (if he can manage it or does he use Securicor) instead of playing regluarly.

I never thought we were going to sign but his agent has to say that so he doesnt lose his big loyalty cheque and saying he isnt leaving on loan says he will go on a permanent deal if City accept one... Mancini obv doesnt fancy him if he is persisting with Nastasic and is giving Rekik and Zabaleta games ahead of him in CB and LB
08/01/2013 11:25:00
Rekik and Zaba never got a game ahead of him at centre back. Nastasic's form has been such that it would be folly to drop him, Lescott has acknowledged as much himself on Twitter. City won't sell him either CDX, well at least not until the summer at any rate. PoL, very lazy assumption to make, Lescott's thoughts on his situation are well documented, he's a model pro.

I never thought we'd sign him anyway his wages are out of our league Il admit I got my hopes up at first and thought may be but looking at it objectively there isnt much there for us... Rekik started a game at LB and Zabaleta, Kompany and Nastasic have been the predominant pairing when they go 3 at the back and Kolo was getting thrown on ahead of him as well... MY thoughts are just based on the unpredictability of City in the market as far as buying and selling go... I also like Nastasic and think he's good the media puts him down because he isnt english...

Nasty has been a revelation. He's very comfortable in possesion, I believe this is the reason he's getting the nod over Lescott, who despite being excellent defensively treats the ball like a hot potato at times. Kolo has been getting in in the right centre back position in Kompany's absence but when Nasty has been rested its been Lescott taking his place in the left centre back position, Mancini seems a bit anal about having that balance in his centre backs ( only once have we seen Lescott/Nasty together and that was against yourselves in the COC, and it proved disastrous for us ). In regards the three at the back, yes Zaba has played there ahead of Lescott, I think the reason for that is what I alluded to earlier about composure in possesion.

Yeah he is a solid player the media have a stupid habit knocking players and managers if the oust an English guy... AVB got awful stick... I always considered Lescott to be a good all rounder I never really thought he was uncomfortable with the ball at his feet... Fair enough the others are better but he is probably up there in the top 10 CBs for all round play including technical ability... Dont why Im keeping this going we arnt getting him bar some big merry-go-round during the window so Il just stop... ha... Im struggling to think of a CB who is at least as good as Vlaar, has 150+ plus games to his name and is a cost effective solution... The guy Douglas from Twente is a decent shout but Im always skeptical of Brazilian CBs and Iv never seen this guy play... Im sure he is no David Luiz but not many have a good all round game like Thiago Silva... Realistically I dont think we would pick up any EPL CBs worth mentioning so that leaves Europe again...

Shame, at least we can go back and give him abuse about how ugly he is
08/01/2013 13:52:00
James Collins would fit the bill, oh wait...
08/01/2013 13:56:00
Oh and one more thing I forgot to mention in regards City's threadbare squad LOL and all that. City's submitted list had just 22 players on it as opposed to Villa's 25 ;)
08/01/2013 14:28:00
Villa's 25 have 18 kids who came through the youth setup and City's have 1 or 2......
