Lambert - Job Done

Paul Lambert was delighted with the lads and the return of our injury threesome against Ipswich today.

Speaking to the Official Site following the 2-1 win Lambert said he was pleased to see us progress, and he was delighted with the impact of our injured stars:

'Darren came back along with Charles and Gabby. Those three lads only really trained yesterday and have been out for a long time so that was really pleasing, especially with the way they played. Charles N'Zogbia is certainly a talent, there is no two ways about it. It was a big thing for him to play because he has been out for well over six weeks.'

Lambert praised Bent's goal as being the sort of goal that typifies what the striker brings to the team.

'The first goal was Darren Bent down to a tee, but I thought his game was very good, his whole work ethic and the way he played. His finish was top class.'

I'm sure the statto's will correct me, but today was the first time we have come from behind to win a game I believe?

'The onus is on the home team, but then you go a goal down. All credit to them but I thought we deserved to go through. The first goal gave us a little setback but we never panicked and kept on playing the way we were and I thought the first goal was exceptional. We left out a few lads to give them a break and I was delighted with everyone that came in. It was a massive effort.'

As for injury issues with Marc Albrighton going off, Lambert confirmed he got a kick on his metatarsal which is the same injury that kept him out at the beginning of the season. He's still to be assessed so it's unknown if he's suffered a fracture or anything like that.

Lambert also added that he expects Ron Vlaar to be a few weeks off yet as he gets back up to full fitness.
