An FA Cup Interview With An Ipswich Fan

An FA Cup Interview With An Ipswich Fan

Cup football returns to Villa Park this weekend with the visit of Ipswich, so it's question time again.

With thanks to Dan The Town Man from Vital Ipswich.

-----

1 )What are you expecting from the season and how seriously are you taking the Cup tie - with our form how confident are you of getting a result?

Staying up would be a result after the poor start under Paul Jewell.

A cup run is important for morale and financially and we are capable of pulling off a surprise, especially away from home.

2) What are the highlights and lowlights from the season so far for you, and how is your current form?

Beating Charlton away was good but getting thumped by the likes of Palace, Leicester and Blackpool were nights to forget.

3) Which players in your team should we look out for?

Aaron Cresswell will look to show why Villa were linked with him.

4) Who is going to be your main dangerman when we play?

Michael Chopra will relish the relative big time.

5) What are your weaknesses, any clues for the game will be appreciated :-)

Can be clownish in defence. Dodgy keeper.

6) Will you have anyone out who would otherwise play?

Orr and Henderson are cup tied.

Now with a slightly more Claret and Blue angle...

7) Are you surprised to see how Villa have struggled?

A little, although Lambert, has maybe tried too many changes too soon.

8) Do you have any thoughts on Paul Lambert?

Did a terrific job at Norwich but has shown loyalty means nothing.

9) If you could take one of our players, who would it be and why?

Darren Bent - to get him away from Lambert. He is a hero in these parts and would score goals for fun for us again.

10) Who do you see as our main threat in the game?

Weimann - he is a good finisher.

11) Where would you say our current weaknesses are in terms of how you will approach the match?

Confidence is fragile with so many youngsters. We should get at you early on.

12) Do you think Villa will have one eye on relegation and not take this game as seriously as we should?

Possibly but a win is a win and Lambert will want it to build confidence.

13) Finally, a prediction please kind person...

1-1 draw and back to our place

Clownish in defence? Sounds familiar! Think we will lose and not be too fussed as our priorities lie elsewhere, field a team of kids Lambo! Oh wait ....

Hope Carruthers gets a start... We could do without the extra games but a win would go a long way...

My prediction: (PL team, not mine) Given, Lichaj, Clark, Herd, Williams, Bannan, Stephens, Carruthers, Albrighton, Holman, Bowery. DJ Campbell to score for Ipswich, but hopefully Villa to sneak it 2-1. Chances of getting all that right , round about nil. Be nice if nil was the Ipswich score after recent games at Villa Park.

Looks a good 0-0 or 1-1 to me. We need to start winnng at Villa Park, and until we do, our future will look gloomy.

I think it's a must win and PL will play his strongest side with Given in goal instead of Guzan. We need to win to build some confidence since it's been blown out the water of late. I'll go Villa 2-0
