Holman - Let's Remember What We Can Do

Brett Holman has called for the team to remember how we had improved, and how we were playing prior to our last three games, so we can get ourselves back on track in the league.

Speaking to the Official Site with most fans hoping the New Year will see a change of fortunes, Holman said the team were determined to get back on track, and we need to take confidence from how we were playing before things went a bit a skew.

'We have had some really heavy defeats now, we are trying to work on things, like not conceding goals and keeping the ball in training, but we are in a dip. The good thing is we are in the Christmas period and the games are coming thick and fast. The dressing room is still very ambitious and we remember how we played before and that can't just fade away.'

Holman also said that the players were speaking their minds in the dressing room and our mistakes of late are being pointing out so that everybody can learn and improve them, saying also that it's not the first time he's been on the end of a hiding in his career and you do learn from them, and as one of the experienced lads in the camp he's doing all he can to pass on his experiences and explain things to our younger lads so we can get out of this dip quicker.

Tellingly he also adds...

'If we could put our finger on why it's happened, we would have done something about it.'

It's difficult to do something about a lack of belief and confidence to be honest, only the players themselves can individually change that outlook inside them, but they should take some heart from the spell we had against Wigan, because if they keep playing like that and putting that effort in, it will come again.

But they can't do it for just 20 minutes in the game, it has to be again for the whole 90.

It seemed like it was improving, but i think it was mr fear who pointed out that this was actually our worst start ever. Don't know when that became the standard.

I'm not sure it's actually a good thing that the games are coming thick and fast!!?

Hate this sort of PR BS. Players should do their talking on the pitch, and at the moment all they are doing is whimpering like puppies and playing like girls.
Saurat
Agreed Saurat, I was thinking the same. It's good that they are talking and pointing things out in the dressing room, lets hope they start to put things right on the pitch. Starting today......
Pride of Lions
Pretty easy to not concede goals in training. No one can score anyway.. Think ive found the problem here. They need competitive training, maybe tamworth would give a good competitive training session.

as I have said before, you have been a little unlucky in the fact you have had a run of games against teams that play good passing and technical football. Chelsea, Spurs, Wigan and now swansea all play lovely football and that isnt currently Villa's strength. Give them a game against teams who are more physical and rely more on hard work, and I feel that is more to your current strengths and you will suddenly see a huge improvement

Oxfordspur, is this a nice way of saying that we will feel more at home in the Championship. Cant think of too many kickem hackem teams in the Prem.
