Mystic - Villa MUST Win - Lawro On Fence

Lawro has predicted a 1-1 draw on BBC Sport.

The Match of the Day pundit points to our last two defeats and says the pressure is on and it is obvious that the team need 2-3 experience players to help the young players out.

"They look short of confidence, understandably, but the other thing they need badly at the moment is a goal. At the moment, they are a long way short. I was watching them against Spurs and, if the ball didn't stick when they played it up to Christian Benteke, it just ended up going to the opposition and they are not good enough to cope with being under sustained pressure. I have said all season that because Villa are a young side they will be inconsistent, with lots of highs and lows but those games were not just a blip."

He adds that Villa are in a mess and will be desperate for a result v Wigan.

Wigan are on an awful run at the moment themselves, although they have had a couple of bad decisions go against them of late - they should have had a penalty against Everton last time out and they certainly did not play badly in their defeat at Goodison Park.

The Latics will turn it round, because they always do. The thing about Wigan which puts them in a different situation to Villa is that they have been here so many times before - and nobody is panicking.

They will be thinking that, the state Villa are in, they can go and maybe nick a win. From Villa's point of view I think this is a game they cannot afford to lose, which is a big thing to say with us being only halfway through the season.

But confidence-wise, Lambert's side look shattered already and being beaten by a team below them would make things even worse.

Worbo at Vital Wigan also says 1-1

Lawro and Worbo are probably right but Mystic Mug will think of nothing but a Villa win because anything else is almost unthinkable. A loss and ................ So Mystic says 2-1 to Villa.

I think a draw . Feeling a bit chirpier this morning. I know the song says We hate Nottingham Forest but who'd hate them enough to appoint Big Eck . Poor sods

Under normal circumstances i would take us for a win. But with the injuries we are going to struggle big-time. Wigan win for me :(

We have to win his game and we will, it will not be easy, just like the Reading game. COTVABU

This is a mad day, first Big Eck . Then just been reading that Kevin McDonald is favourite for the Blackburn job alongside a Bollywood actor who's managed a London Sunday football team . I'm now going for a win as the World's going mad !!

Bloody hell just read that we are now down to the bones due to injuries and suspension, ouch COTVABU

If ever there was a must-win match! Lawro's saying it's a must-not-lose, but i disagree, and think we need 3 points badly. In January, although i'm not usually in favour of loan signings, i believe that they could go a long way. Some of the top clubs may be able to help. Milner & Lescott from Man City anyone? I'm not going to scream for PL's head until i've at least seen half a season. I think we will beat Wigan, and then will see what Januray brings, both in terms of signings & results. In a month's time, we may look a different proposition altogether.

Win - no problemo.

When it comes to opportunities, there aren't too many bigger or better than what we have in front of us, with Wigan Athletic rolling into town. A home game against a team that is currently below us in the league, those type of games dont come around all that often. Are we good enough to take advantage of the opportunity though, and secure three very much needed points? I'm not sure that we are. Looks at best a draw, 0-0 or 1-1.

Geez wonder what people would be saying if this game was after Liverpool! I for one think this is a must win and think that we have more than enough about us to beat Wigan at home so I'm going Villa 2-0 and then a draw at Swansea. UTV!!!!

The excuse for Chelsea and Spurs was "They are playing in a different league to us". Really?? We are in the same league table in the papers I read. What excuse will there be for getting botty'd by Wigan today??? And if I hear him say "We'll be fine" one more time I will smash something. Is it all part of the plan to give the other teams in the league a massive headstart before our impending 10 game winning streak at the end of the season???
