It's that time of the season again where Merlin invades our frontpage :-) No, not the beardy weirdy one, our mate over at Vital Chelsea. With thanks! 1) What are you expecting from the season? A top four finish at least, we need Champions League football (even more so after crashing out in the group stages this season) to sustain our ambitions. A trophy would be nice but after miserable failures in the Community Shield (on your patch) and in the European Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup, we`re fast running out of viable options. See, an interview with a Chelsea fan ahead of this Sunday`s match: An Interview With A Chelsea Fan

The news has finally been released, here are the details for our trip to Bradford before we host them in the second leg. The first leg takes place on January 8, with the second following on January 22. Both games kick off at 7.45pm and will be shown on Sky Sports. See: League Cup Ticket Details Announced

Steve Wade: Watch out Jack Reacher! Its been a great week for Villa fans after some superb results created a total Villa love-in amongst the punditry. Even Robbie Savage withdrew his 'Villa for relegation' taunt, as the Villa faithful lay back and luxuriated in the warm soothing glow of optimism, which has been as knee-jerk and as over the top as our doom-mongering was, only a few weeks ago. Bolton boss Dougie Freedman has said Bolton will gladly look at an extended deal on Stephen Warnock's loan, if the player wants it. There's been a fair bit of speculation about our out of favour left back today, with some outlet's claiming a deal had been done that would kick in on January 1st, others saying there was still a dispute (but there had been movement) on the percentage of the wage we wanted Bolton to pay, but now we have something official from Bolton's Website. Freedman said of the player: Warnock's Future In Stephen's Hands

Robbie Savage has been forced to admit that he thinks he'll have to back track on his earlier opinion that Villa would be relegated. On BBC's 606 phone in back in October Savage said: Humble Pie For Savage

Not sure Paul Lambert really needed to answer the question to be fair, but with the London press and internet gossip sites stirring like they normally do, fans will probably be pleased with his answer. See: Benteke Going Nowhere

As Villa prepare to take on Chelsea this weekend, Paul Lambert has again hailed his young lads for having the belief in themselves to compete. Speaking to the Official Site as we look for back to back victories to really lighten the mood of the season, Lambert said of young charges. See: Lambert - Young Enough & Good Enough
