Humble Pie For Savage

Robbie Savage has been forced to admit that he thinks he'll have to back track on his earlier opinion that Villa would be relegated.

On BBC's 606 phone in back in October Savage said:

'My opinion is that Villa will be relegated, Villa could be lucky and there could be three worse teams, but Villa will be there or thereabouts and they will be involved in a massive relegation battle at the end of the season.'

Speaking more recently to the BBC, the former Blues midfielder admitted he may have to revise his earlier thoughts and eat some humble pie given the time of year:

'I could be wrong, Aston Villa could stay up. Their recent form, Benteke's fantastic, Weimann, the youngsters in the team, Westwood, Bannan - they are doing great. They look like they are playing with a lot of confidence, high energy, good young manager, so as I am doing this near Christmas I might start, instead of having Christmas pudding, I might eat some humble pie instead.'

We did try and tell you Robbie...

Wouldn't be too hard for him to say, "I was wrong, the Villa players are better than I thought", phrases like "full of confidence" smacks of "their average but playing well". Give us some credit Savage-just because you hadn't heard of the likes of Westwood and Lowton doesn't make us relegation candidates, that's why you're a crap pundit and Lamberts the manager of the best club in the world!..Sorry, I've stepped off my soapbox now...

We're only 3 points above relegation, so he is right with what he initially said. We are in the relegation scrap, just like he predicted. Now he's admitting that we look better than he expected, but the bottom line is that we're still deep in the relegation fight. I have never thought that we would go down, but we will be in the relegation scrap for most of the season, until the points are on the board to move us away from the bottom 3. It is definitely too early for us to be rubbing Robbie's nose in it.

He should have waited!! Following my two previous predictions that we would get beat 4-0 by Norwich & 5-0 by L'pool I am going for a (lucky) 6-0 thrashing at the Bridge today and how Pi*#ed off I will be if I am wrong yet again!!
villa@herts
Not a million miles away on that prediction there....
