Benteke Going Nowhere

Benteke Going Nowhere

Not sure Paul Lambert really needed to answer the question to be fair, but with the London press and internet gossip sites stirring like they normally do, fans will probably be pleased with his answer.

In response to all the crap being talked about Christian Benteke and Arsenal especially, the Birmingham Mail gave Lambert the opportunity to respond...and he did so quite brilliantly in my humble.

'There's no point in us even being here if it's a case of bringing people in and then letting them go. What's the point in that? We're trying to build something here which can take a few years and you need good players with you to achieve that. There's no point coming in for half a season or a year and then you let them go. He's been an absolute steal for what he's doing and the way he's performing. I'm pretty sure he's not worth £7million now.'

Spot on. If and it's a big IF Tekkers doesn't want to sign a new contract when he has 18 months or so left on it and wishes to leave that's one thing. And like Ashley Young and Gareth Barry especially in their cases, they leave with our wishes but on our terms.

There's no way, short of maybe a £30+ million offer, that Benteke will be going anywhere before the summer of 2014 at the earliest, certainly not in January or next summer.

agreed, should not be talking about this sort of stuff, they should laugh off pathetic questions like this and tell the press to move on. Fergie wouldn't enter into such stupid questions. Of course he isn't for sale, he's only just been bought.

Perhaps a little bit of inexperience there with Lambert. You're quite right JF he should of just laughed it off. London press are starting to stir things to cause unsettling - grass is greener etc .......

Yes it seems strange, they won't sell him until the season ends at least.

Fllowing my two previous predictions that we would get beat 4-0 by Norwich & 5-0 by L'pool I am going for a (lucky) 6-0 thrashing at the Bridge today and how Ped off I will be if I am wrong yet again!!
