Last Week We Came Of Age - Baker

Nathan Baker said the youthful Villa team came of age last week in our victories over Norwich and Liverpool.

Speaking to the Official Site Baker said confidence was sky high after our recent exploits and although we have tough games coming up, he's hopeful that last week could be a big turning point for the club this season:

'It has definitely been a bit of a coming of age week for us reaching a cup semi final and then beating Liverpool. We have been on a great cup run and it's great to transfer some of those performances into the league games. There are some big game now in a busy festive period but we're definitely up for it. I'll sleep well over the next few weeks, that's for sure!'

Baker also makes a very telling comment when discussing how he, Herdy and Clarkie dealt with Suarez:

'I grew up with Ciaran and Chris throughout the club's Academy so we know each other's game pretty well, and like to play with each other. A lot of the young lads have won the reserve league together so hopefully we can do well with the first team now.'

That understanding really does seem to be showing promise for us now.

With the three man defense doing so well it'll be interesting to see where -- or if -- Vlaar fits in when he comes back.

Agreed PoL!!! It is a bit childish and bordering on homophobic. Baker, Herd and Clark are playing well together but hopefully it won't alienate Vlaar. Lambert has made some great signings but hopefully he won't be just going after Brit/Irish talent because the current youngsters are performing. MON made that mistake. Players from the British Isles and elsewhere are the future.
