Pundits Wax Lyrical About Aston Villa

Few pundits waxing lyrical about Villa from their performance against Liverpool yesterday.

This one on Sky:

Nicholas - Villa made a statement today.. 15th December 2012.. Charlie Nicholas believes Aston Villa finally showed what they are capable of after beating Liverpool 3-1 at Anfield as they sent a statement to the league. See: www.skysports.com

Then there was Lawro and Alan Shearer on Match of the Day last night.

Lawro:

"Villa started all over the place and Liverpool missed great chances in the first 15-20 mins. So how did Villa manage to end up winners?

Well, they managed to win because they started to get themselves organised and then the tackles came in and you know what? Every single one of them today was committed"

He added, "When the ball was there to be won, they won the ball, they managed to get all sorts of people back as the half went on. Liverpool still made chances but Villa really got on with it, no heads dropped, that was the great thing about them, they got on with it even when under pressure."

He also added that despite Christian Benteke being the stand out man, "It was a real team performance".

I was so happy yesterday finally everything Iv been saying about PL was on show... His tactical aptitude, eye for a quality player, man management and motivation it was incredible... We got some luck but even at that to be 3-0 up after 50 mins at Anfield isnt lucky... Its great to say to the relegation merchants are we going down now? NO!

Good to see us playing attacking football, finally now he has changed the system we look better

You were happy yesterday CDX_EIRE? I'm still over the bloody moon today! Incredible performance for a side with such little Premiership experience between them.

I'm beginning to think our lime away kits are not the only similarity we have with Borrussia Dortmund. Pacy, young and hungry. Thanks for printing the transcript of what Lawrenson said, I found it hard to catch through his gritted teeth. Obviously Benteke will get all the attention but Nathan Baker, wow. He is immense, what's going to happen when Vlaar is fit to return?
Mervin King's Pocket
well when vlaar is fit, he'll move to the center and herd will unfortunately be left on the bench

These pundits are a complete and utter joke. One minute we are in trouble and the next we are a good side. Overpaid jelly arsed idiots.

Lambert is building something special here, over the past few months my worries of relegation were immense, but over this past month i've seen something i am getting excited about that Lambert is building here, this team MUST be kept together and grow each game that passes is the step towards Villa getting into the champions League mark my words, 1/2/ or 3 years its coming i feel it in my bones, Just can not sell Bentekerz Baker Westwood etc they are our hopes of seeing Villa great once again UTV!
CLIVETHEVILLAN
Couldn't agree more Mr Inspector. Enough hot air to get a Zeppelin to the moon and back every week. It's nice that they're saying nice things about us, mind. Wonder what Robbie Savage is thinking ? Hehe.. in your face, Girlylocks ! UTV

Pride Im still extatic Iv been pretty optimistic all season but now Im just dreaming of what could be... Id love if we went like Dortmund but we will have to make sure these players produce like Gotze and Hummels do but under PL it looks like they could do just that... Good oul Charlie on SSN was saying the commitment Clarke and Baker are showing is offsetting any mistakes they are making... I agree with Clive too we have the basis of a strong spine to the side Clark, Baker, Westwood and Benteke... Clarke is much more subtle than Baker in that he isnt often mentioned but thats what you want with DFs if theres nothing to say about them they are doing their job... However as Merv says Baker has been absolutely immense... And dare I say Bannan isnt actually doing bad at all...

Forget the pundits. What about me? I'm a pundit, an expert, a Johnny Know All. I wax lyrical about our beloved AVFC in my away day article/match report too. Seriously, the lads deserve all of the praise that has been directed their way these past few days. They've had flak hurled at them earlier in the campaign by the media boys, its only right and fitting now that they enjoy being the pundits flavour of the week. For us, the supporters, they'll be our flavour of the week every week, win, lose, or draw.

Let's not get too excited about what Lawrence says. He is an over paid idiot. We know we are playing fine football_don't need that twits opinion thankyou.

I'm honestly still in shock. I mean every time I think about the game I just start laughing out loud. I guess it's just because Villa showed SO MUCH QUALITY in the goals it's just unreal to me. There's such an insane amount to be positive about right now I don't think Aston Villa's ever had such a bright future. There's something in that mind of Paul Lambert that just gives him an uncanny ability to motivate and get the best out of players.

First time in ages I can go to work without the risk of punching someone out when they mention the weekend's football. Leaving my usual critical nature in it's box today. Wont even criticise the board as I'm still high on endorphines! The 3-5-2/5-3-2 formation reminds me of how we played under Brian "Walks on Water" Little. I just hope we show the ambition to not just keep our promising players, but add the necessary numbers in January to account for depth and injuries. Good week for Villa, let's see if we can have another. P.S. Bad news about ex-Cov player Peter Ndlovu. Hope he pulls through. UTV!!!

fantastic win excellent goals, but the defence were outstanding Baker rightly taking the plaudits but Clark just gets better every game for me he took the difficult job of marking Suarez and considering the guy is a world class striker did a brilliant job The best all round team performance I have seen in 3 years.

glensider - I'd happier knowing a small part of my cable subscription was paying for you to be a pundit than instead paying for the dribble we have to put up with from the current incumbents !! Matters not though - we were bloody great in that game, was worth staying up until 4AM in the company of Misters Jack and Daniels to watch. Benteke - bloody legend already if you ask me, and he and the Wee Man are shaping up into a seriously good strike partnership. All sorts of texts and emails from my 'Pool-supporting mates today. All I can say to them is - lol. We are Villa, and we're getting better each game. UT ****in VILLA !!!!
