We Won't Get Stephens On The Cheap

We Won't Get Stephens On The Cheap

Charlton manager Chris Powell has said he won't take any nonsense from Villa if we decide to go back in for Dale Stephens...oh ark at her!

We were of course in for Stephens in the summer but a deadline day deal fell down as a fee couldn't be agreed, and there are rumours we will go back in for him but I'm not so sure. Reads to me as more of a message to potential others suitors that only big money will do.

'If Villa come back in, they know exactly what happened and it would be a waste of their time if they came in and we went through what we went through last time. So they know for a fact that it would have to be to the valuation that we asked. Whether they come back only Paul Lambert and his people can answer that because they moved on pretty quickly after it didn't happen.'

And I believe we ended up with Ashley Westwood, so is that position filled now and has Lambert moved on? We haven't done too badly with Westwood now he's found his feet somewhat have we?

Smacks of desperation from Charlton here... it appears that PL has potential targets and a perceived value...so if one doesn't come off he moves on and Westwood has proved to be astute business now he's settled...think Stephens is in the past.....James Henry at Milwall on the other hand may not be !

Probably trying to alert clubs that he might be for sale. Charlton no doubt need the cash. I know absolutely nowt about him to be honest. Would he still be on PL's radar?

Trying to beat the drum for an auction I'd say. Mind you, I don't think we need him now. Besides, Ashley has more Premier League experience......
