Andreas Weimann has effectively dedicated his brace against Norwich to the traveling fans who made the journey as he was astounded by the support given on the night.
Speaking to the Official Site after what was I assume, a very good night's sleep, Andi said of the fans:
'It's a pleasure to play in front of them! The fans were absolutely unbelievable, it was incredible support from them from the first minute to last. It's a long way to come, hats off to them.'
As for his own contribution to the game and his second brace of the season, Weimann added:
'It's brilliant, I am really happy to have scored two goals but the team as a whole were unbelievable. We're so excited about being through to the semi finals. It means the world to me to score two goals, for me it's brilliant. Eric Lichaj did brilliantly down the left for the first goal, it was a striker's finish - I just put it into the back of the net. Christian Benteke did brilliantly for my second goal, put a lovely ball in for me and all I had to do was put my leg there and put it in.'
Weimann also reserved praise for Brett Holman's equiliser as it got us straight back into the game and kept our confidence high, and described Benteke's closer as 'brilliant'.
An awful lot of use of the word 'brilliantly,' maybe we could've had a stupendous or a fangasmic, (nope run out of ideas now) but it means the same thing. Possibly even an overall better game than the Manchester City one, but without doubt one of the performances of the season so far, and with the changes made by Paul Lambert ahead of the game the other positive is players stepping up to the plate, especially in midfield and showing that despite how well Ashley Westwood and Barry Bannan are growing together, we still do have other options.
Nothing you can fault from last night is there...if there is, I can't think of it.
More of the same lads, and good on you Andi, keep it up son!
