Paul Lamberts League Cup Win Reaction

Dan 'the man` Harrison has the match reaction from Paul Lambert on the Official Site.

I get the feeling, reading between the lines, that Lambert is fairly pleased with that result!

The Villa boss pointed out the legend in waiting, Andreas Weimann. I REALLY hope this lad and Christian Benteke start v Liverpool, they could give the Anfield outfit a good few worries together.

On the brace scorer he said 'One thing about Andi is he is a natural finisher and his work ethic for the game of football is absolutely brilliant."

He also says that he is a natural goalscorer and the only reason he was on the bench was to give him a bit of a rest.

On the game, he said Villa were 'excellent` and also thanked the fans for their amazing support.

'Their goalkeeper made some terrific saves. Norwich had chances as well. But I thought the lads were excellent. We've been playing like that since the Sunderland game. We've been playing really, really well and not had the results we might have had. I'm delighted for the team, I really am."

Adding, 'A massive thanks to the Villa fans too. I thought tonight they were unbelievable - they did ferociously well in their support. It was a three-hour journey to come down and I thought they were absolutely fantastic for us.'

He also said that it was a blow to see Darren Bent go off injured because he thought up to that point, he looked 'sharp`.
