Lawro On Fence - Mystic In Loss Shocker

Lawro has sat on the fence this weekend for the Villa v Stoke game.

He told BBC Sport that he sees a 1-1 draw between the two clubs.

"Aston Villa keep ticking over - they are picking up points, like they did in last week's draw with QPR, but don't have the quality to score the goals they need to win games. What they need are more people chipping in from other areas like Brett Holman did against Rangers."

The BBC pundit also points out that our 'organisation` and 'application` are fine, but we lack 'inspiration`.

He also says that Villa will be facing an in form Stoke but also that they don`t get many goals either.

"I don't think anyone should expect a goal fest."

Ouch............. "The difference between the two sides is that Stoke have kept hold of their better players, while Villa have sold theirs. You can see what effect that has had from where the two teams are in the table."

Latest results:

I am much more optimistic and say we will have a 2-1 score ok but it will be to the home side. COTVAB

A huge all-round improvement on the performances against Reading and Queens Park Rangers is required if we are to secure a much needed three points from this encounter. Two home premier league victories on the bounce? It's certainly been a while since we achieved that statistic, and I must admit to having reservations about our ability to achieve that milestone by succeeding against the Stokies tomorrow. Where are our goals going to come from? Shame on me I know, but a victory for the visitors looks on the cards, possibly by a 2-0 scoreline. Prove me wrong Villa. Please.

amen to the 'prove me wrong'... just think Stoke will have the physical game to give our lads a bit of trouble on Saturday. That said, Benteke looks like he can handle himself, everything crossed!
The Fear
I think that Stoke will over run the likes of Bannan ,Westwood etc & win 2-1

My heart says 1-0 but we will need to improve massively from the last few games. If we carry on from the 2nd half against QPR it could be quite embarrassing. Who knows, maybe something strange could happen this weekend. Someone may even catch a glimpse of that rarest of sights - The Lesser Spotted Randy Lerner actually at Villa Park and watching a match :-)

0 - 0 Written all over it, sad state of affairs when we are going into a HOME game against STOKE and are worried about it. Even worse is the fact that most would probably take a point if offered it now ! This isn't a pop at Stoke or even at our own squad (we have to make do with what we have) I'm just gutted as to how far backwards we've gone in the last few years, still... VTID

If Lawro was always right we probably would have only got 2points all season. I wish someone would slap him in the face!

Stoke offer a tough test for Villa. But they are exactly the right team to measure Villa's progress against - a team lying in 9th place, which represents Villa's highest aspiration these days.
OnMeHeadFred
I can only go for a 1-1 at best too.

Lawro on Tv a few days ago when asked about Villa. 1 man said we would stay up, Hansen? and Lawro butted in like he knows it all! Tomorrow well be hard, it well be a battle and i guess the young lads well be hurting Sunday morning. Stoke are strong, our pace should worry them hopefully. As always AstonVilla 4v1 Stoke :)

Well we will find out if experiance beats young legs if you look through the stoke team they dont half have the experiance but youth and heart count for a lot too. 1-1
