Villa's Team Line Up v QPR. Bent Back On Bench

Villa`s team line up v QPR today.

Come on Villa, break the London presses hearts and don`t give Appy Arry a home win.

Team:

Guzan
Lowton, Clark, Baker, Lichaj
Westwood, Bannan, Herd, Holman
Agbonlahor, Benteke

Subs:

Given, El Ahmadi, Weimann, Bent, Williams, Ireland, Delph.

What? No Bowery? I wonder if he has a clause in his contract to.... I`ll stop there...!!!!! Very sensible getting Darren Bent back in, albeit on the bench, it has to help stop some of the ridiculous conspiracy theories and questions now surely? Maybe not!

COME ON VILLA.

No Vlaar slightly worried but if we play well we should get a sraw at least...

Im also going to say it right now playing Bannan is a mistake... hope he proves me wrong but I think this is the wrong game for him more so than any other...

the way its listed on the Sky site is weird (other than missing Delph off the subs list) - the punctuation (semi colons) suggests a 5-1-3-1 formation (Westwood in back line, Bannan in il libero role ). No such punctuation in the QPR lineup - Harrys not that sophisticated.

I think its a 5-3-2 or 3-5-2... Looks like Herd, Clarke, Baker back three with Lowton and Lichaj as wing backs...Bannan, Holman, Westwood and Gabby/Benteke up top...
CDX_EIRE
If only we had Vlaar this would be a straight forward win QPR are muck...

that was appalling. apart from the performances and the high degree of unforced errors, the three substitutions were perhaps the worst I have seen in a single game since O Nearly days (prob since that game where he used none). Did we really need to shut up shop with 25 mins plus extra to go in a "six-pointer"? Did Williams even get a touch ?? Sadly the Benteke goal was almost certainly onside - he stepped back on before the ball was played and the linesman was in Manchester.

Guzan earnt us a point today. everybody else with the exception of Benteke and Holman were utter garbage. I really do hope that harsh words are said to everyone today. We totally suckedgoing forward. I was disgusted by the standing around and the continual backward passing.

Really? looked offside to me but I only seen it once and was a crap angle... I thought first half we looked good but second half we struggled... Home team will always have a spell of domination which they had for about 20 mins second half after that I dont think they looked too dangerous... Yeah they had some chances but not too much clear cut... Bannan was rubbish, after that performance I can understand the delph hate... El ahmadi did ok made some good steals when QPR feel asleep... The more games we play the more you can see the problems in MF.. Ireland and Westwood should be starting in the middle next time IMO at least those two keep the ball... Guzan and the post were the difference today...

This was so disappointing. I expected QPR to fight and scrap all the way but they didn't need to. At times we made them look like Barcelona. Our tactic of pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass back to the keeper for him to hoof it is not what possession football is supposed to be all about. So many misplaced passes. Not nearly enough pressing of opposition players. When we had the ball all too often it ended up with a Villa player with no support and no options. I could have wept for Lichaj late on. Time and again he had the ball in good positions but had zero support from the midfield. In the end a point away from home is satisfactory but we must improve.

When we're averaging zero points from the big boys and only one against our fellow strugglers, writing really is on the wall. From what we've seen so far I'd say there is only Reading marginally worse than us, S'land about the same. Is PL the man to turn it around? Most important January in a long time...
