Dunne & Dusted For Villa? And Other Injury Updates

I`ve said for a while I don`t think that Richard Dunne will play for us again. Looks like he is still struggling with a mystery injury and if he can`t start training until the New Year, he isn`t likely to get fit very quickly having been out so long is he?

Anyway, Paul Lambert told Sky Sports the defender isn`t not training, when he tries a few 'little bits` it hurts him.

'I would say he is out until the new year, the way it is going at the moment. It is frustrating because of the other defensive injury problems we have and the squad isn't the biggest in that area. He is still a long way off from being available and it is frustrating for Richard."

Adding that they don`t really know what the injury is.

Mat Kendrick at The Birmingham Mail has also done an article on the 33-year-old where Lambert explains:

"He went for a test on Saturday then he went for another one on Thursday. We are just trying to cross out what we think it could be. It is really frustrating. The answer to your question is we are unsure at the minute as to what this ongoing problem is. It has come from the groin area/hip area as such. That is what we have to try and nail down and put to bed one way or another to try and get to the bottom of that."

As we said yesterday in the Villa Times, Chris Herd is back in training and could be back in contention today v QPR. Ron Vlaar is a doubt with a calf injury and Enda Stevens is out with an ankle injury.

Mat also says that Charles N`Zogbia who has been out with a knee injury, is looking to be fit for the Stoke game next weekend. Joe Bennett is also hoping to be back.

We need to cut our losses and sell.

Nothing to sell with Dunne GV! He is out of contract at the end of next season and he won't be offered a new contract. No one will want him as it stands. The cynic in me says he is pulling this out so he doesn't have to play for us again. Just sit back and take a nice wage pkt and not do anything for it, is what the cynic in me is saying about Dunne

I'm with kefkat. The way things are, ould be glad to see him at least on the bench - never thought I'd be typing that while watching the RoI make hard work of the Euros.

I think I go along with that too.....

I hope he recovers soon so we can get rid of him in Jan. I'm sure 'Arry will take him off our hands, being the great wheeler-dealer he is. On the plus side, the longer he's out, the more games we go through without his trademark own-goals or giving away penalties in the dying minutes.

I'm far more worried that Joe Bennett might be back .

I can't really see much future for Dunne, think he'll leave for nothing in summer, maybe retire. I can't see a future for N'Zog too, its just not working out, he is not a strong team player, not a Lambert player. Any bids over £2m and sadly I think we have to get rid. We can almost make a team out of huge wages reject players now! Given, Warnock, Dunne, Hutton, N'Zogbia, Bent (possibly £15,000,000 in wages per season in total right there)

Joe Bennett will do just fine for us Oscararc. I've seen enough from him to suggest that we have a very decent left full back on our hands. Dont dismiss him so readily. Supporters were talking that way about Ashley Westwood, he's now looking to be a very astute Paul Lambert purchase.
