Villa Transfer Talk Centres Around Darren Bent

Villa Transfer Talk Centres Around Darren Bent

The Metro says that Liverpool are negotiating with Villa for a loan move for 28-year-old striker Darren Bent.

This, according to the report, is with a view to a permanent move in the summer.

Rodgers has already said he might not have the funds to buy players in January so obviously a loan would suit the Anfield boss.

"If we can get in the quality in the final third we need to support what we have, then there will be enough to keep the team moving forward. But I am not so sure that will happen in January. This year the club wanted to balance the books and see where we are at. There has been big investment in the club and lots of players went out and a few came in during the summer, so we will look to do some business.`

John Percy at The Telegraph says that Bent will know if he has a future at Villa or not tonight when he finds out if he has been excluded from the squad again or not.

They also repeat the Bent to Fulham or Queens Park Rangers links.

Suicide to get rid of Bent. And why subsidise the scousescum with a loan?

I can see both sides. If he goes on loan we strengthen Liverpool, but he gets a chance to shine, increase his value while Liverpool pick up his wages. If we sell him in Jan I reckon we'll get £10-12m. If he bangs in the goals for half a season at LFC he could fetch nearer the £20m mark.

If only we'd signed him when we signed Heskey.........! (instead of I mean, not as well as - obvs).

The transformation is nearly complete - with the sale of Bent and Ireland shortly afterwards we will have been transformed into a league 1 kick and run outfit. I disliked Mcleish so much I never actually thought it was possible or anyone to do worse.....
27/11/2012 12:55:00
Please tell me you're joking? We are 1 million times more fluid than last season

I couldn't disagree more AVbornandbred. We're playing football I want to watch for the first time on years. And when it goes wrong, as it will with a team that's being built from youngsters, they look eager and give their all. Compared with the likes of Carew and Downing, these lads are worth paying to watch. And really, you can't be serious comparing McLeish with Lambert. UTV.
27/11/2012 13:22:00
Absolute madness. We had been crying out for somebody to put the ball in the back of the net for years.
27/11/2012 13:51:00
I think AVBB is focusing on the balls to Benteke as a sign of us becoming akin to stoke or west ham without the defensive strength... The thing is tho our game is more diverse now... With Lambert I see it as playing the best pass when its presented... In general managers tend to set up a team passed on how they played and as a kid growing up in Ireland Celtic were a team I followed and Lambert wasnt the kind to give possession cheaply so his game is based around possession and playing direct when there is a good opportunity... We cant play tippy tappy (no I dont mean tikki takki) football because we dont have that creative force in MF to carve open a team... I think thats what will come in January an advanced playmaker and hopefully an oldschool winger... Back on point I still dont think Lambert plans to be rid of him unless a great offer comes in or Bent hands in a request... Im more interested in selling the *****bags anyway Dunne, Warnock, Hutton for starters...
27/11/2012 13:59:00
If Vlaar's still injured tonight, Dunne might not seem such a bad option. It's one thing to ship all these players out but Bent, Ireland and N'Zog could all be brilliant with the right management/coaching. Our few quality players look destined to leave soon - and most people on here seem to welcome it. Hope to Christ you all know as much about football as you seem to think - same applies to Lambo.

I don't know anything about football, onlyteam. I know what I like. And having been down to the old 3rd div with the Villa and seen some fantastic football on the way back up, I prefer Lambert to McLeish any day. I may be the only one who thinks winning isn't the most important thing. It's how we play that's most important to me - that's why I don't like win-at-any-cost teams at either end of the scale - 11-behind-the-ball draw teams to teams full of thugs or divers.
