Bent's Time Up At Villa?
John Cross has an article in The Mirror today.
It seems that Darren Bent was fit for the Arsenal game and wasn`t best pleased to be told he wasn`t in the squad.
Now it is up to the manager (any manager) who they choose but was Jordan Bowery (ten goals in 83 games for '4th division` team Chesterfield) really a better option than our top scorer and England striker Darren Bent to have on the bench in case the team needed an injection of goals?
I must admit I assumed, and said in the forum, that Bent wasn`t fully fit and so wasn`t in contention. Seems from Paul Lambert`s quotes, he was fit.
The report says Bent was furious not to have at least made the bench and that this will signal the end of his Villa career. Whether that is true or not, I know not.
Lambert when asked said the decision was his, "I`m the man that picks the team. Listen, it`s my choice and I`ve 26, 27 lads that I have to look after. Everybody`s in it together and I need everybody in it together. I know the disappointment when you don`t play, I know I was dropped about five million times, but that`s the nature of the game. If you could pick everybody you would. Darren`s still part of it but I've got 25, 26 guys to take care and think of."
So, I wonder who will come in for Bent in January, he`s too good to sit on a bench or even in the stands, that is for sure.
He's been linked to Liverpool again today and, no surprise here, also to Harry Redknapp's QPR.
We surely CANNOT sell to teams who are in the relegation/bottom three scrap with us?
