Lambert Thinks We Should've Nicked 3 Points

Paul Lambert believes the players were phenomenal today and he doesn't think it would've been unjustified if we'd come away with all three points.

Speaking to the Official Site following the draw, Lambert firstly paid tribute to a mature performance from a young back four, and used it as an example of where he believes the club will go in the future:

'I thought we played really well, we were excellent. I thought we might have nicked it, we lost Ron Vlaar and then you look at the average age of the back four. They defended very strongly, it's a really exciting future here I think. We are a young side but we are growing together. We are a threat.'

As for experiencing the game from the stands after the pointless and ridiculous decision by the FA to ban him for telling the truth, Lambert said he was unconcerned with not being on the touchline because he trusts his staff and players to perform:

'I have a brilliant assistant manager, I had no problem. We talked before.'

Lambert also confirmed it was Ron's calf that went, but he'll be assessed in training tomorrow before a decision is made on whether he can face Reading.

Agreed, did say that i thought we could get something out of this game, played well against a top 6 team, scored but ok off side, tipped onto the bar but also they had two good clear cut chances in front of goal...............so a draw i would take and would have at the start........

I hope they get some more concrete for Ron so he can harden up in time for Reading.

Awesome point that. We must beat Reading now. That'll put a nice 4 points before us and them.

Yeah, excellent point. I didn't think we'd get anything so it's a bonus in my eyes. We need concrete back though as we need me experience at the back against Reading. Thought Ciaran had a good game and.... well they all did.

One point from the last three games isnt such a bad return. If you had asked me beforehand I would of been very happy with two points from the 3.

On that performance we will stay up! Agree with Lambert...i was worried when concrete went off but the young lads defended brilliantly. The futures bright... the futures villa.

A good point. Villa played well as a unit but lacked the quality to win the game. Beating Reading will be rather more important than this one.
