'If It's Football, It's Vital'

U21's & #Ask He Who Walks On Water

Bit of a mini round up, U21 fixture change, and Brian Little next up on the cult Heroes series.

Villa's U21 visit to Newcastle which was due to be played on December 3, will now take place at 11am on Sunday, December 2nd and be played at the Geordies training ground.

In other news Brian Little has been in the Cult Heroes hotseat and you can read the full Q&A by Clicking Here.

Here's a taste of what he was asked.

'What was it like to have to retire so early?'

It was easy to be honest as I was injured for quite some time. I had too many problems with my knee. I just knew. My ligaments were severely damaged and at that time I knew I had major problems.

'What was it like to work with Ron Saunders?'

It is fair to say that Ron and I did not see eye to eye. I think he found me difficult. But there was definite respect. This was a time, you have to remember, when tough discipline ruled with managers. Later on after I became a boss in my own right I found myself saying his quotes to players. It was only then, later on in life, that I released how influential he was on me.

'Did winning the League Cup as a manager give you as much satisfaction as winning it as a player?'

I won championships, manager of the year awards but winning the League Cup with Villa was my best achievement.

'What do you make of Paul Lambert?'

Paul Lambert was a great choice as Villa manager because of the pedigree shown so far in his managerial career. In his defence so far this season, I believe this is very much a transitional period for the team. I hope the manager's way of playing - his attacking, enterprising style - will bring them through.

'Do you really walk on water?'

Laughter.

Still remains to this day my best player of all in a Villa shirt, and the young team he was part of played the best football I have ever seen anywhere. Every game was exciting and if you think this team was broken up to form Saunders league winning team it gives you some idea how highly I rated them.Made half of Grays goals and scored as many as Andy himself in one memorable season.
