Christian Benteke DID NOT Disrespect Villa

Well, this is very important. This sort of journalism causes offense, upset and anger.

Christian Benteke has been quoted in the press today saying he loves Arsenal, wants to move from Villa, didn`t even realise we weren`t a London club etc.

I`m not going to link to the articles, I`m just not prepared to give them any page impressions at all.

Read what they say he said. NO PLAYER would say that, NO PLAYER would dare.

forum

I`ve just spoken to a close contact at Villa who said this was an interview in French, for Belgian tv and he simply has not said these things. He`s been "misconstrued, misrepresented" and most importantly I was told "Christian is VERY upset that these quotes have been attributed to him, he is delighted to be at Villa and has been heartened by the way the fans have taken to him so quickly."

The club will get some quotes out later to totally dismiss these horrible reports. Can I ask all of you who read this to 'facebook like` or re-tweet and generally share around.

If he had said anything like this, I`d have actually bombed him straight back out in January, but put simply, he hasn`t.

horrible being misquoted. Had an incident myself years ago when doing all the Ellis stuff. Picked up a paper and read 'my' quotes from a journo I'd never even talked to. 'I' said things I'd have never said. But of course, you can't correct them! Leads to a lot of anger coming your way and is totally unfair!

Why is though JP that it's always our players that seem to get misquoted! no smoke without fire.

I cant understand why people bother with our media... Whatashock Vilahave their best performance and looklike thy are turning the corner with Bentekes help and this comes out. We are a club the press love to give out negative press on as e are not very successful in recent years, not great to watch and not based in London. I would take this as a good thing that Villa are on the rise and maybe are less easy to get to than QPR or Reading so they would like to see us go down ahead of them! If you read the quotes then read the headline again its actually a joke headline rather than a joke interview!! I loved watching Arsenal in the Henry, Petit, Bergkamp, Vieira days - who didnt? Spurs fans maybe

I guess the press have gotten bored with Bent rumours and seems Benteke is playing well, it's time to upset him too. Perhaps the journo, if I can call him that, is a QPR fan - lol.

Remember the Petrov interview in Bulgaria about how he admired Liverpool as a youngster? Imagine what has REALLY been said. As I kid I loved watching Arsenal. Henry was my hero. It was a dream to play for them etc etc...As for the London thing that is old hat...He said b4 that when he first heard of Villa's interest he didn't know about the location of the club..he did his research b4 he signed..found out about the history and tradition..spoke to a Belgian m8 who lays at Albion...BEFORE HE SIGNED... January is oming andthe press are looking to create stories.

Trouble is sometimes there is no smoke without fire, if Arsenal came tomorrow with a 15 million bid he would be gone, because we have become a selling club , I love the guy though so hope he doesn't leave for many a year. Feel like we have a chance against City, they played real good against UTD

I tried to post a link to this article on the sun website article in question, but their moderators deleted my three attempted comments. Obviously rational opinions or opinions that make them look the fools that they are are not allowed.

I wouldnt be suprised if he was asked about who he admires and maybe said arsenal and Henry. Just a point tho, he is only 21! he had suddenly found himself in the prem playing bloody well, I can forgive him for having high ambitions and I would worry about a players hunger if he intended to play for Villa (as we are at the moment) a lower half team, we need players who want to get to the champions league and their ambition WILL take up back towards the top of the table. SO I have no issue with him being ambitious. I wouldnt expect us to sign Villa fan!

Glad ive seen this as when i read the morning reports my heart sank and it put me in a real bad mood. For a minute i thought Bentekkers had been taking advice from that cheeky little Swedish s**t that we have just signed! Hope this gets is published quickly so all fans see it, Christian has been doing well and is building up a good relationship with the fans, be very sad if this ruins it. Journalists like that really hack me off!!
