Weimann - It Was Like A Cup Final Loss

Andreas Weimann has said losing to Man U was like we had 'lost a cup final'.

Speaking to the Official Site about the disappointment he felt following the loss of a 2-0 lead, and then neatly wrapped up in some refereeing errors, a final 3-2 loss, Weimann said:

'I should be happy because I scored two goals against Man United, but we lost the game so I don't know how to feel at the moment. We are growing in confidence, we are a young team and the gaffer said if we keep playing like that we'll get a few more wins and start climbing the table. Right now it feels like we've lost a cup final, but the gaffer said to keep our heads up because we'll get results.'

Hardly the right...
My Watch Is Better Than That!
...time to be reminded about referee's and cup finals when it comes to Man United Andi, but United have secured 15 points from losing positions so far this season, so given our overall performance, again, there are far more positives to take from it and there's no real shame in losing to United given where we are in our rebuild...we pushed them all the way and had even two key decisions gone the right way instead of the red way, the game could've been all that much different.

Even if Andi had been able to send that header into the corner, it's possible we'd have held on for the win, so wipe the tears, pull up the socks, and try and put it right next match.

We just have to make sure that type of performance is now our baseline for the remainder of the season, and if it is, and we can show further improvement, the second half of the season should and will be far more comfortable.

But it's not only us . Top teams do it everyone ,look at Man City on Sunday even Everton on Saturday . Watched the game on TV & my mate couldn't believe at 2 - 0 up, I'd have taken a draw .

Game Statistics suggest you did rather less well than you think you did. Hello Mr Field it is nice to be back long time no banter.

You were close enough to hit him - whats your excuse. No court in the land would convict you. One day, history will relate how they suddenly went from being ***** to always winning the title, exactly coinciding with the FA-BSkyB takeover of English football. Probably involved Jimmy Savile, as the Fixer.

If it's any consolation Andi, I work in a school in Salford and today has been a pleasure. The amount of positive comments from staff and pupils has softened the defeat somewhat. Now it's off to the Council House, bring on Man City.

Still haven't matured have you Brummie :-) Football aside I trust life is well...but back to the football.

You needed the help of the ref to turn all that possession into anything but air shots, given we had the same number on target (and that's ignoring Scholes' dying swan routine lol And you achieved all that against a team that throughout the match had 7 players new to the league in it...try to not forget that chap!

Those stats dont mean jack I missed the live game thru work but downloaded it and analysed the whole game since I knew the score... MU had all the ball in the first half but couldnt do anything with it a pitiful effort from Rooney was the only real chance you guys had in the first half... We deserved at least a point from the game even with RVPs unlucky strikes... I mean it wasnt a case of everytime UTD went forward they looked like scoring far from it toothless in attack until the introduction of a player I dont like and now hate even more ;).. It was a case of luck and despite those two RVP strikes we were still unlucky the scholes/ireland decision, the lucky control for the 1st from the PEA and then the deflection off Vlaar... For me we were simply unlucky and deserved more but it seems thats football those moments will swing around for Villa over the season...

How many more times are we going to be 'unlucky' against United?

Who knows probably until we beat them twice in a row or record a string of good results against them (4+) or even maybe even one game where we tear them to pieces and win by a sizeable margin... In the past three or four seasons we have now seen Villa have them well bet only for us to come undone by super subs and shaky spells... Our terrible form against United is a mental thing not ability three times we should have bet them the 3-2 (Macheda), 2-2 under Houllier and the 3-2 at the weekend...

Do you lads not see many United games on TV? The possession thing IS a major factor in football. While we had the ball all the time you were running around attempting to stop us from getting any real shots off etc. This is all very well and good from Villa's point of view but you are getting increasingly tired in the process as do most of our opponents hence the late goals. It is nothing to do with being jammy as it happens far too many times. The same thing happened to us in the Champions league final v Barcelona it was men against boys. The thing here with you Villa fans is that considering our record against you, our respective league positions and all, well, you probably all thought we had no chance today but because you went two up it suddenly turned you into this super side in transition and we were toothless and lucky blah blah blah. This is not the case I am afraid, having said that Benteke looks a good prospect but so did Danny Welbeck.

Welbeck has never looked decent! The tiredness plan only works if you get us running around, leaving it with Ferdinand for 30 minutes doesn't count lol
