'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Lambert pre Sunderland

The weekly pre match press conference has arrived, and here's what Paul Lambert had to say.

For a fuller transcript please Click Here.

His response to drawing Norwich in the Capital One Cup.

'It's the same reaction as regards playing them in the league. I don't really get caught up in it. I've been involved in enough games to think it's another game we'll go and try and win.'

On his decision against Swindon to play Andreas Weimann over Darren Bent.

'The system dictated I played Andi out wide. To be fair to Andi I thought he did really well and was unfortunate not to score. It's a different position, bearing in mind the way Darren plays.'

Plans for January?

'The squad needs to get bigger. Everyone has to have competition for places, that's vital. It's like the centre halves situation, we lose Ciaran and Nathan and have to put Matt or Chris back there. It shows you are short in certain areas and you have to improve the squad which we will try and do.'

Lambert also talks about Martin O'Neill and not being worried about our upcoming fixture list.
