Confidence boost, or a banana skin, it's Swindon in the Cup - question time! With thanks to STFC_Gazza from Vital Swindon Town. See: An Interview With A Swindon Fan 29/10/12
LW AVFC: Paul Lambert has come into Aston Villa FC and made a huge error of judgement. At short notice, he has constructed a young team almost devoid of Premier League experience. I expect he did so under instruction to move on the high earners, but also with a degree of deluded confidence after his inexperienced Norwich team did well last season. See: Stick With Paul Lambert

Ouch... Alan Hansen on match of the day last night: 'I don`t know where Villa are going to go from here because they were so bad today {v Norwich} I thought it was embarrassing for them.` Not a nice spiral this, also not nice that the pundits are talking in such a way about Villa but I don`t buy this 'they all hate us` (all fans of all clubs seem to think this!) and there have been a good few this year, including some of our own ex players like Merson and Yorke, the latter having called himself a fan, he is visibly upset and angry. Gareth Southgate is another. See: Alan Hansen - Villa Were Embarrassing

I have to admit, I`m quite surprised by the quotes from Darren Bent today. He has told The Sun that he will not request a transfer. I would Darren. The way this top quality, £24million striker is being treated is a joke to me. He was our top scorer under Houllier, despite only joining us in the January. He was our top scorer last season despite missing half the season injured and he`s our top scorer this season despite being dropped over and over again. avbornandbred: Everybody has their own ideas where things are going wrong at the Villa at present. Some are blaming Randy for tightening the purse strings, some are blaming the players (well certain players anyway) but very few seem to be blaming Paul Lambert. Now before I get accused of being fickle, I'll state clearly that I am not calling for the manager to be sacked or anything so silly. What I would like though is for our much lauded manager to spend a little less time trying to show everyone how clever he is and a little more time, actually being clever. The official site has recently carried an apology from the Mail On Sunday following an article they carried last week. The statement from the newspaper reads: 'Last week we said one Aston Villa player had thrown his Kick It Out short away in disgust and another had removed his early.
'The Mail on Sunday accepts that half the players were asked to remove shirts to split the squad during a pre match warm up. 'There was no protest and all the players fully support Kick It Out. 'We are happy to make that clear and apologise for any misunderstanding.'
Paul Brown: Ron Vlaar admits it would be a 'dream' to lift the Capital One Cup as captain of Villa. But the giant defender knows there's a long way to go before there's a chance of that becoming a reality. See: www.avfc.co.uk
Paul Brown: Paul Lambert insists Villa must live up to the expectancy levels this evening as they face Swindon Town in the fourth round of the Carling Cup. Lambert is fully aware that Villa are favourites to go through and he wants his players to accept that fact and thrive under the pressure. See: www.avfc.co.uk

Thought for the day: 'This trainer came up to this boxer. He said, 'Are you ready for another fight?' The boxer said, 'Just a bout.'?'
