Grizzly Villa... I feel I must roundly and astutely bat away mutterings of abandoning out spiritual home to land developers in favour of a bowl stadium in the east side of the city. Such arguments have grown from disgruntle ground in the last few seasons as the east side development of the city takes place. Since Villa Park first rose out from a Victorian amusement park in 1897 it has grown, through modernisation to become one of the most famous and recognisable stadiums in the country, a UEFA 5 star rated stadium and home to a football team born in 1894, the founding father of the league. There's just something exceedingly magical about the name - Aston Villa. But where did it come from? See: www.avfc.co.uk
This news doesn`t surprise me but frankly IF Villa did sell this player in January................. The Mirror say that both Liverpool (linked before) and QPR are interested in signing Villa`s record buy and top striker Darren Bent. Full article: Darren Bent Gone By In January Transfer Window?
Some humour now, newco Rangers Chief Exec Charles Green has decided to open up the debate about a new super league, presumably oblivious to his own club's position...oh and by insulting Premiership clubs.Pot Calling The Kettle Green

Shay Given says he's gutted to have lost his place but will battle to get back. Meanwhile, Brad Guzan is delighted! See: Given Gutted - Guzan Delighted!
Fabian Delph has declared that this is the best he has felt for a long time following his injury issues. Speaking to the Official Site after being called into the breach on a number of occasions by new manager Paul Lambert, Delph said he was again enjoying his football and physical it's the best he's felt for a long time, so he wants that to translate into much better form and consistency now - which to be fair is why he has his doubters in the fanbase as he either looks brilliant or the moment, or very lightweight and anonymous. The question was asked, the question was answered! Would you sell Darren Bent?... Would You Sell Darren Bent (Poll Results)

Steve Wade: The politics of envy? I have to say that my initial response to Villa's two-nil defeat at Spurs last week was one of disappointment because although Spurs are listed amongst the good clubs in the Premiership these days and Villa are not, I find myself not quite ready to relinquish my hope that my club of choice, can defy the odds, the form and the numbers, to beat their betters. See: Something For The Weekend (397)
Steve Staunton has said that he believes Villa are well equipped in the leftback spot with the competition that Joe Bennett and Eric Lichaj bring. Speaking to the Official Site our former left footed legend (yes he gets that status simply from scoring from a corner kick!) said of the duo: Stevie Stan On Leftback Battle
Marc Albrighton has said the only thing Paul Lambert has lost on the footie field is his pace. Speaking to the Official Site whilst bigging up the new gaffer, Albrighton offered: 'The gaffer joins in a few sessions and you can see the touch is still there, it's only his pace that's not there. He reckons he had me in his pocket the other day, that was good fun.' See: Lambert's Slow In His Wiser Years
