Would You Sell Darren Bent (Poll Results)

Well, these results are pretty clear!

We asked following the press reports linking our striker out (see: Darren Bent Gone By In January Transfer Window? )

Would you sell Darren Bent?

Poll Date: 14 Oct 2012
Suggested By: JP Fear

No 72%

bent close up

Yes, in January 14%

NO, relegation if he goes 8%

Yes, but not until the summer 4%

Unsure 2%

bent heading

Meanwhile, there was a brief quote in The Express with reference to the exit reports:

A Villa spokesman said:

"There is not a problem," adding "The manager has explained why he has not selected Darren for the last two games and has said his door is open if the player wants to discuss the matter."

Bent had said not long back that it had been 'a crappy few weeks`. I`m not sure why a few Villa fans then slated him for being sulky etc. He was only saying! He had lost his Villa captaincy, he`d not been named for the England team squad and he was dropped despite scoring v Southampton and again, having come off the bench and scored against WBA, again found himself on the bench for the Spurs defeat.

I don`t think he was out of order expressing that the last few weeks hadn`t been good for him? He hasn`t - as far as I can see - criticised the manager, or Villa OR said that he thinks he should be an automatic choice. Just that he isn`t exactly happy sitting on the bench.

I guess it calls into question what you want. Do you want players happy to sit on the bench or players chomping at the bit to play and not just collect their wages!?

Sell our best striker and goal scorer? Does it need a poll?
leelindsay
according to some Lee, yes! Made for an interesting debate during the quiet time of an international break to be fair!
The Fear
Lets be honest most fans wouldn't sell any player but Bent is coming to 29? and his contract winding down , we won't get anything for him in 12 months time . It's all about wheeling and dealing and I trust Lambert to do what is right for Aston Villa long term
villan57
I can t believe were even having this discussion.....It was a master stroke bringing him to Villa and one which I doubt we will see happening again any time soon.... The bloke is a natural goal scorer for god sake. So what if he isnt back in his own box clearing shots off the line, his role is to put them in at the other end and he does that better than anyone else we currently have on our books.
GibboVilla
Agree wih the article and most of the above Bent is a class finisher, Andy Cole Lineker Klinsmann Van Nistelrooy even Shearer were all better at finishing the ballin the back of the net than most not creating goals for fellow team mates cos then they would not have scored as many would they?? Im not going to start getting worked up as per usual worrying that the board are forcing Lamberts hand to sell Bent to save money/wages as i do not know for sure and it genuinley looks like Lambert may have a conflict with Bent due to style of team play he prefer's rather than any other reasons but by god we need Bent scoring and soon, Christmas is not far away, and when you are down there after Crimbo we all know its not a nice finish to the seasons end!
CLIVETHEVILLAN
Its pretty silly to even discuss selling DB considering the options or lack of, we currently possess.. Gabby inconsistent, Benteke/weimann/bowery all need time... if im not mistaken his contract is NOT running out I think he is with us until he's 31...
CDX_EIRE
No question to discuss. The poll results say it all. I also find numerous conspiracy theories that are used to beat the owner with a stick e.g. they are forcing Lambert to sell Bent quite ludicrous. For one the they spent 18m-24m and secondly does anybody seriously believe that Lambert is a character who would tolerant such interference. Lerner has made mistakes, most notably he who shall not be named, but I really do find it tiresome when certain people try to blame him for everything.
Rowley Villa
So actually 80% said no, just that 8% of those think if i we do sell him will be relegated (strange choice of answers). Who are the 20% who think we should se the most prolific goal scorer we've seen in years!!??!! I don't know whether to laugh or cry!!
Adam Deuce
I stated that I thought Bent was lazy at times just an opinion but when it comes to selling him I voted NO! He is still the best option we have for putting the ball in the net.The problem which I think faces Lambert is that Bent is an out and out goal scorer and not a workhorse like Holt and he needs to find a system to make best use of his assets when we dont really have any creative midfield players to supply him, square pegs and round holes syndrome .

Errm Rowley mate who exactly on here has blamed Randy for the rumours Lambert may sell Bent??? Looking above its only me mentioning that i would NOT be blaming Randy for this latest drama at Villa as Lambert may just not fancy Bent to fit his style! I get stick for misreading things on here even though i have one eye that works and that plays up so if anybody has two working eyes please use them well is my advice your lucky ;)
CLIVETHEVILLAN
Errm Clive mate. i wasn't being personal to you. i should have maybe clarified that on other threads on this forum a few have suggested that randy is putting pressure to sell on Lambert sell to buy etc, if he stays we might have to pay the add ons etc. so please don't be personal with me by suggesting i should use my two working eyes. i do use them and also use my reasonable level of intelligence so don't try to be sarcastic. wE are fellow villa fans after all.
Rowley Villa
Nah Rowley lol dude i was kinda tryi to make a joke of it but im pretty poor at typing humour ;) Good to hear ya use ya eyes, anyway my mates called me terminator the day after my opertion LOL i aint be funny dude, but agree this could be anothr moan at Randy i have considered it on here before tbh but im not falling for the same old things i usually do out of frustration, i just hope Lambo works it out with DB9 tbh!
CLIVETHEVILLAN
fair play Clive. I appreciate your explanation that you were trying to make a joke of it. it's easy to misinterpret messages on email and forums particularly if you don't know that person well. Yes i hope that lambert can work it out. The media usually make things worse. i usually let things ride and don't comment very often. I suppose I finally expressed frustration not at people who make constructive critical comments but those who seem to want to criticise for the sake of it. certainly wasn't having a go at you. we are all Villa after all.
Rowley Villa
Cheers Rowley, tbh the least thing e probably need right now with some tough fixtures coming up soon is having a pop at Randy n all that stuff we may fnd ourselves down the bottom end proper come christmas s support is needed, take no notice om a yam yam we aint built bright, and i still aint mastered humour on a keyboard lol
CLIVETHEVILLAN
LOL. I have to say that I'm a yam yam as well. strong in the arm and strong in the yed. That's my spin on it and I'm sticking to it. 'Ommer 'em Cradley.
Rowley Villa
Om bin from Tipton lol its great to see fellow yam yams s Villans like myself, in Tipton i was surronded by Baggies n Dingles probably like yourself its very annoying and got a lot of stick over the years the bar stool's lol even some tasty encounter'sin a few pubs when we pay away a fair few years back in my hey day lol
CLIVETHEVILLAN
Rowley dude, nah are know yo bin a yamyam are bay feelin as guilty now, for trying a bit a banter wiv ya our kid ;)
CLIVETHEVILLAN
Nice one Clive. Originally from Old Hill/Cradley Heath and grew up with lots of Baggies fans. Thankfully a fair few Black Country Villa there. I also remember a few interesting discussions shall we say in years gone by.
