Would You Sell Darren Bent (Poll Results)

Would You Sell Darren Bent (Poll Results)

Well, these results are pretty clear!

We asked following the press reports linking our striker out (see: Darren Bent Gone By In January Transfer Window? )

Would you sell Darren Bent?

Poll Date: 14 Oct 2012
Suggested By: JP Fear

No 72%

bent close up

Yes, in January 14%

NO, relegation if he goes 8%

Yes, but not until the summer 4%

Unsure 2%

bent heading

Meanwhile, there was a brief quote in The Express with reference to the exit reports:

A Villa spokesman said:

"There is not a problem," adding "The manager has explained why he has not selected Darren for the last two games and has said his door is open if the player wants to discuss the matter."

Bent had said not long back that it had been 'a crappy few weeks`. I`m not sure why a few Villa fans then slated him for being sulky etc. He was only saying! He had lost his Villa captaincy, he`d not been named for the England team squad and he was dropped despite scoring v Southampton and again, having come off the bench and scored against WBA, again found himself on the bench for the Spurs defeat.

I don`t think he was out of order expressing that the last few weeks hadn`t been good for him? He hasn`t - as far as I can see - criticised the manager, or Villa OR said that he thinks he should be an automatic choice. Just that he isn`t exactly happy sitting on the bench.

I guess it calls into question what you want. Do you want players happy to sit on the bench or players chomping at the bit to play and not just collect their wages!?

Sell our best striker and goal scorer? Does it need a poll?

according to some Lee, yes! Made for an interesting debate during the quiet time of an international break to be fair!

Lets be honest most fans wouldn't sell any player but Bent is coming to 29? and his contract winding down , we won't get anything for him in 12 months time . It's all about wheeling and dealing and I trust Lambert to do what is right for Aston Villa long term

I can t believe were even having this discussion.....It was a master stroke bringing him to Villa and one which I doubt we will see happening again any time soon.... The bloke is a natural goal scorer for god sake. So what if he isnt back in his own box clearing shots off the line, his role is to put them in at the other end and he does that better than anyone else we currently have on our books.

Agree wih the article and most of the above Bent is a class finisher, Andy Cole Lineker Klinsmann Van Nistelrooy even Shearer were all better at finishing the ballin the back of the net than most not creating goals for fellow team mates cos then they would not have scored as many would they?? Im not going to start getting worked up as per usual worrying that the board are forcing Lamberts hand to sell Bent to save money/wages as i do not know for sure and it genuinley looks like Lambert may have a conflict with Bent due to style of team play he prefer's rather than any other reasons but by god we need Bent scoring and soon, Christmas is not far away, and when you are down there after Crimbo we all know its not a nice finish to the seasons end!

Its pretty silly to even discuss selling DB considering the options or lack of, we currently possess.. Gabby inconsistent, Benteke/weimann/bowery all need time... if im not mistaken his contract is NOT running out I think he is with us until he's 31...

No question to discuss. The poll results say it all. I also find numerous conspiracy theories that are used to beat the owner with a stick e.g. they are forcing Lambert to sell Bent quite ludicrous. For one the they spent £18m-£24m and secondly does anybody seriously believe that Lambert is a character who would tolerant such interference. Lerner has made mistakes, most notably he who shall not be named, but I really do find it tiresome when certain people try to blame him for everything.

So actually 80% said no, just that 8% of those think if i we do sell him will be relegated (strange choice of answers). Who are the 20% who think we should se the most prolific goal scorer we've seen in years!!??!! I don't know whether to laugh or cry!!

I stated that I thought Bent was lazy at times just an opinion but when it comes to selling him I voted NO! He is still the best option we have for putting the ball in the net.The problem which I think faces Lambert is that Bent is an out and out goal scorer and not a workhorse like Holt and he needs to find a system to make best use of his assets when we dont really have any creative midfield players to supply him, square pegs and round holes syndrome .

Errm Rowley mate who exactly on here has blamed Randy for the rumours Lambert may sell Bent??? Looking above its only me mentioning that i would NOT be blaming Randy for this latest drama at Villa as Lambert may just not fancy Bent to fit his style! I get stick for misreading things on here even though i have one eye that works and that plays up so if anybody has two working eyes please use them well is my advice your lucky ;)
