Gardner Will Play Anywhere On His Return

Gary Gardner has said he'll even play in goal if needed when he returns from his anterior cruciate ligament, such is his desire to succeed at the club.

Speaking to the Official Site as Gary continues his rehabilitation, he said Paul Lambert had spoken with him about his aims for the club, so even though he can't physically play a part at the moment, he still feels involved:

'He's spoke with me and told me what he wants to do and what he doesn't want to do, but I've not had that much time to work with him. I came on against West Ham so that gives me positive feelings that he likes what he sees in me, so hopefully when I get back I'll get another chance.'

As for the playing in goal element, Gary said that being the younger brother Craig would often blast shots at him when they played in the local park, but at youth level he did actually start three games in goal for us when the youth team had a few injuries:

'I would play anywhere for this club. When I was coming back from my injury I was still young enough to play in the youth team, the NextGen, the reserves, or whatever position this club asked me to play in, I will play there. Even if it's in goal. I am a lad that will listen to the club and just get my head down.'

Again, certainly no doubts when it comes to the lads attitude and desire, just have to hope that when he does return he can remain injury free for quite a while so he can play catch up and build his experience to the level required.

Gardner's potential is there for all to see as he has progressed through the levels, if his potential will make him a solid Prem player, I think his attitude will get him there and I hope it does as big things are expect of our Gaz.
