Brad's A Big Polar Bear

Brad's A Big Polar Bear

Eric Lichaj has said that Brad Guzan is a big polar bear who can push Tim Howard all the way for the US goalie spot.

Speaking to the Official Site on what looks like a very slow news day, Lichaj talked about Guzan's attitude on the pitch and revealed he's rather vocal:

'Of course he can challenge, he's a really good goalkeeper and I always knew this so hopefully he can challenge for it and get the spot for USA as well. He's very vocal and if something's wrong he'll make sure that he lets you know and you hear him. Usually at the end of the games he's lost his voice and we have to tell him to be quiet!'

Lichaj was also at Chicago Fire in his formative years, and that's allowed him to see something we haven't...Guzan in midfield:

'He would play centre defensive mid sometimes. Basically with how big he is now, that's how big he was when he was that age (18) so you can imagine some little guys and this guy's towering over you. He's like a big polar bear basically. He's alright with his feet, he'll probably say he's better than he is, but he's a better goalkeeper than outfield player, so let's just leave it at that!'

We've definitely got options for midfield then haven't we :-)

Im suprised McLeish never picked up on the fact he could play in midfield. Thinking about it.....He was probably to versatile for him though.
