Mystic Mug v Lawro - Villa Away To Spurs

Well, Mystic Mug knows not where to turn with Villa. How can you predict the undpredictable?!?!

Lawro (still winning 2-1) and Mystic both said a Villa win v the Baggies. We got a draw.

This time around the BBC pundit Lawro says on BBC Sport that Spurs will beat Villa 2-0.

He reasons: "Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas can do no wrong at the moment but we have to temper the hype around him a little bit because Spurs got their backsides smacked in the last half-hour of their win at Old Trafford last weekend."

And on us, "Aston Villa are having a bit of a quiet revolution under Paul Lambert and it is interesting to watch. Lambert has not made a big deal out of his team selections, he has just said to the team 'play well and I am not bothered how old you are or how much Villa paid for you'." Adding, "Villa are heading in the right direction but I cannot see them getting anything at White Hart Lane. Gareth Bale is in the sort of form where he can be unplayable and, even if some of their players are tired from their trip to Greece, Villas-Boas can change the direction of the game with the strength he has on his bench."

Muggy is trying to vote with his head not his heart this year and is looking at the results of both teams:

Latest Results for Villa:

Aston Villa 1 - 1 WBA
Southampton 4 - 1 Aston Villa
Aston Villa 2 - 0 Swansea
Newcastle 1 - 1 Aston Villa
Aston Villa 1 - 3 Everton
West Ham 1 - 0 Aston Villa

And for Spurs:

Man Utd 2 - 3 Spurs
Spurs 2 - 1 Q.P.R.
Reading 1 - 3 Spurs
Spurs 1 - 1 Norwich
Spurs 1 - 1 WBA
Newcastle 2 - 1 Spurs

Muggy is going to try to put faith in the Lambert revolution and the fact the team don`t give other teams a second to rest and says 1-1.

Gulp.

I really think this game could go either way but I fear a heavy defeat... Playing someone like Spurs will suit us as far attacking and creating chances but at the other end this is the sort of team that could really hurt his... Quick powerful players with plenty of creativity theres no doubt we could be in for a long day but equally if the right Villa team shows up we could hit on the break and leave them shell shocked... If we avoid a capitulation like at Southampton I think we have a chance against spurs...

we drew them last time we played guys and that was only because Dunne went for a Gaelic style conversion of the Spurs attacker in our area. Dunne should go play in America - American football I mean.

If Lichaj starts on the right, Bale will be much less of a problem as he is an excellent defender and has decent pace. The difficulty will be that if Lennon or Bale do get into the box, Clark will need to keep a level head and not over commit or make stupid tackles. Bent MUST start especially with Albrighton looking to be back to his old ways in term of sending in deadly crosses every chance he gets. IMO Zoggy should start over Holman as he is a better passer with more pace which will be important in terms of counter-attacking. If Villa play well, I think a 2-1 win could be on the cards. Combine Spurs tendency to concede late with Lambert's reputation of his teams scoring late and Villa's chances look a bit better. Add to that the effects of Spurs playing mid-week in Greece and I think you have a winnable match for Villa. Although I'm sure Lambert will start Holman, here's my line-up: Guzan, Lichaj, Vlaar, Clark, Bennett, El-Ahmadi, Delph, N'Zogbia, Albrighton, Gabby, Bent

I've already said, so I'm not changing my mind 2-0 to Spuds, so Lawro is actually agreeing with me, as I said it first!! Neah!

I have a funny feeling we might just get something from this one.... 2-2

I think we could pull off one of our shock man city style results on Sunday!

Great side Spurs, but get in their faces and they don't perform quite so fluently .... defensively they are a bit dodgy too if pressed so I'm going 2-2 at a push from us if we have a good day !! lol
