Villa Fans Reactions To The WBA Draw

Villa Fans Reactions To The WBA Draw

Really happy with the way we battled back. Well done lads and well done PL for rotating the squad!!
Charizma

Well done Villa and Albion. A 'proper' game of football without a cheating, diving Prima Donna in sight. Respect to the baggies fans for joining in with the applause for Stan in the 19th minute.
Jonah

I'm pleased at the way we came back too, but I still feel we are too lightweight.....
Pride of Lions

Fair result. Bent from the bench is ideal. He is more of a Solskjaer type finisher anyway. Benteke misses enough chances but he's creating them too so he'd have nothing to miss if he didn't. Not like a derby game and fairly dull to watch but things are definitely getting better.
Villan444

Bent to the rescue.....again. WBA are a decent outfit and Steve Clarke a decent coach and manager. Outside of the two Manchester sides, the two big North London clubs and Chelsea few would be overwhelming favourites against The Baggies. The table doesn't lie.
VillaWillRiseAgain

We played some good stuff, Should have scored more, were lucky not to concede more, overall a fair result.

What a great game. Lots of noise; the fans right behind the team. There is no chance that you might think you are watching Barcelona but fantastically exciting. 33 shots; that's one every three minutes! Yes - we need to improve but we will. The Baggies are an established team. Their style is settled. We are a work in progress. You need to wise up if you think we are going to be pushing for anything other than respectability - 14th or better. When you consider the dross we had to put up with these last two seasons this is a breath of fresh air.

'Red Nev' (Gary Neville) said before the match that Villa Park was his favourite away ground as a player. Top fella!!! Good endorsement. Hopefully, Villa will be there for another 138 years. He said he loved the atmosphere and history.
VillaWillRiseAgain

We were the much better team...playing well just quite poor in the final third. When N'Zogbia, Bent and Bannan came on it was much better, a lot more movement and chances created. On performance we deserved 3 points, in terms of chances a draw was fair.
P.Avfc

Like it or not WBA are a good side, and we more than matched them. I think all the criticism of Benteke is unjustified, he put himself about and tried hard....he'll be good for us. I would start with Benteke, Weimann and Bent....Gabby is the sort of striker who is great as a 'hit them on the break' striker, but pretty ineffective when we're trying to press a game. I keep saying this to all the doom merchants...this is a better side than last seasons already...we won't go down.
MASON_PARKER

I blame the Ref. Villa were just starting to get warmed up. What happened to extra-time?
OnMeHeadFred

I think we'll be OK. Takes time for midfield in particular to get to know each others games and gel. Where I do disagree is in the dismissive stance taken to rivals. Wigan, Reading play good football. Hopefully Swansea are on a downer but everyone was raving about them all last season and just two weeks ago when they came to Villa Park. Concentrate on ourselves and we should be alright - but it was last season's mentality that we would be ok only because other teams are far worse. We want to be and will be better than relying on that this season - but all teams deserve respect. Most PL teams are capable of good results and performances on their day. We just need to ensure we have more days than they do.
stennyvilla

Thought we were the better side, certainly had enough chances to win it. We have to be realistic and accept this year we will probably finish between 12th-15th but at least we are fighting for the shirt, having a go, playing some decent football rather than bending over like last season. The back four are still learning to play as a unit and its a big learning curve for the young fullbacks. Lambo still hasn't figured out his best midfield imho but its good that there's competition. Nice to see Zoggy come on and look sharp. Benteke is young and learning we have to accept he will be inconsistent. As for DB9, today showed exactly what he's about - clinical when the ball drops to him.
Lion Heart

Bennett looks good.
Lock

Fair result today. We are again slow out of the blocks and that needs to be addressed. Benteke had a shocker and we looked more a threat with Bent. Vlaar, Holman and Bennett were pick of the bunch.
holte ender 1969

It's going to be an up and down type of season whilst the team gels, but I am more than happy to be along for the ride! At least we stand a chance of some ups (like Citeh away) with Lambert in charge. Come on guys, it was utter dross last season with that mug at the helm, let's get behind the team and see what happens!
juddy

There were lots of positives from yesterday's game (the battling, Holman's performance, Bent's goal, Gabby getting 90 minutes, Albie back the team etc) but also alot of negatives. The biggest worry for me was the tactical naivety shown again yesterday by PL, who I am starting to think is trying to be too clever for his own good. WBA were under strength at full back yesterday so instead of sticking with the 442 formation that was effective at Citeh PL changed to a narrow diamond and went for lumping it long against one of the biggest centre half pairings in the league?????????? As expected loads of room down the flanks that we didn't exploit (credit to Albie for being disciplined it must ve been torture). No problem for me with Bent starting on the bench but the formation should've been changed before half time and either Weimann or Bent brought on for Benteke far earlier than happened as he looked way off the pace. For the life of me I can't see why Lichaj didn't start.
AVbornandbred

I thought Bennett did a good job and he will be our left back of choice I would assume, so it is not surprising Lichaj didn't start. It was a good game with the lads taking charge of the first half, just wish they could have taken their chances and buried the game then. The Baggies gave us more of a fight in the 2nd half and we let our heads down. But we resurged especially after DB9 put the ball away gawd bless him!
Charizma

Very happy with how the season has started. Results are not the most important thing at this time of the year..
alcoollie

And the less than happy:

15th, p5, 4pts. Anyone think that's good enough? Albion are kak, should be putting teams like that away. I'm a big gabby fan, but he didn't cause them enough problems today.
onlyteaminthemids

Glad of the point TBH.... But disappointed. Mind you, for all the effort, we didn't deserve to win. Not good enough.
