Bannan The Drum For The Fans

Barry Bannan has taken time out to talk about the away fans and the support they give the team.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the Saints game, Barry Bannan wanted the away dayers to know how much their support means to the players and pointed to the recent Newcastle game as an example:

'The away fans have been brilliant for so many years. They're incredible, it's been a big thing since I've been at Villa. They support us through thick and thin. I remember against Newcastle they were up in the Gods. You look up and think 'we won't be able to hear them' but we still did, they were magnificent.'

With reference to our new away kit, Barry also quipped:

'If you can't hear them, you can certainly see them!'

As for the Saints match, Bannan also added that he believes the fans can see how confidence has grown in them since the Newcastle game, and now the squad are looking for a run of results to keep everything flowing:

'It's just about building on that now. We want a run of results, confidence is sky high, everyone wants the ball and everyone is chasing it down. We're all looking forward to the game immensely and hopefully we can get the three points.'

There's also an interesting part to the interview where he discusses his running and effort following a certain stat against Swansea. It may surprise a few.

Bannan you get the feeling is knuckling down now and putting his efforts in for the team rather than his drinking mates which im glad to see, he has got the technical passing style and range coupled with effort and desire can become a wizard for us, As for our away fans what can i say they are the best and its nice to hear players manager etc appreciate the traveling and money they put in to support our team all over the plaice they are second to none imo and can't wait to join them soon UTV!

You know, he is growing on me. LOVE it when players take the time to mention the long suffering fans. Top quotes. Plus, he is doing his talking on the pitch as well. Good stuff
The Fear
I'm with JFon this one, he's beginning to grow on me a bit too. Hope he keeps up the good work.

He's trying and doing better, much like Bent in his link play...let's hope it lasts. UTV.

I also look at the team this way: 15 shots on target by opposition teams this campaign, making us 5th best on that stat defensively. We have effectively only conceded only a wonder goal in the last two against two of the best attacking teams in the EPL. That's great going. Last season we were murdered! The whole team tackles and tracks back and even the ones that didn't are slowly getting to grips with it. We are on the right path. I haven't been this excited since the Little and Gregory days...I would say MoN but it was soured by the departure and the buying of players who he sat on the bench???
