New & Old Out In Force For Stan

New & Old Out In Force For Stan

The Pedal For Petrov Dinner attracted a host of Villa stars from the past today.

Unfortunately Stiliyan Petrov couldn't be in attendance for the arrival of Andy Smith and Alex Butler as they completed their Pedal For Petrov ride from Celtic Park, and the subsequent dinner, but plenty of friendly faces were in attendance.

For a video of the event and interviews with the likes of Gareth Barry, Carlos Cuellar and Nigel Reo-Coker please Click Here.

Gareth Barry - 'Stan will be emotional when he sees the pictures from the event. He's just one of the most perfect men in football.'

Ashley Young - 'Everyone is here for the same reason - for Stan. I still call him 'The Skip'.'

Curtis Davies - 'To do the distance they have done in the time, with the lack of training they've had is amazing. The fact they wanted to do it for Stan makes it extra special. The lads are brilliant, they genuinely care for Stan.'

Carlos Cuellar - 'It's amazing. For the reason they have done it - for one of the best people in the world - it's brilliant. Everyone should be proud.'

Wilfred Bouma - 'When we all knew what happened to Stan it was a shock and the only thing we can do is support him. It's good we all came together. He couldn't be at the even but I hope to see him in person, he means a lot to me.'

Nigel Reo-Coker - 'It shows the camaraderie at Villa, it's a tight family unit. Stan is a terrific character, I had to be here for him.'

star studded evening indeed - Shrek, Manuel from Fawlty Towers.....and Tinchy Stryder. Or was it Dirtee Rascal ? Either way, I hope their tickets cost at least #500 - each.

Fair play to them all - I will vigorously fight the urge to boo Young and Gardner in future. Great to see Bouma there too - what a top bloke.

What a good turn out. Just goes to show the standing he has with his fellow professionals etc.

Sounds like NRC wants to come back. I'm sure he could still do a job (on significantly less wages mind). Great to see so many past players back for this. We all want you to beat this Stilyan. Get well soon. Can't wait to see you back on the pitch at VP.
