Westwood Not Fazed By Premiership

Westwood Not Fazed By Premiership

Ashley Westwood has said he has no fears of stepping up to the Premiership plate, especially after a few words of wisdom from Paul Lambert.

Speaking to the Official Site after making his U21 debut against Saints, and no doubt looking forward to potentially making his full debut for the first team, Ashley said.

'There was one thing that stuck in my mind when I came to sign. The manager said 'I don't want you to come here and be a shrinking violet, I want you to come and play the way that you've been playing for Crewe'. So that will always stick in my head.'

Ash adds that Lambert also talked about it being the same game, and the same size ball that he's used to, so clearly Lambert has been starting his pep talks early!

Westwood believes he's perfectly placed to make an impact, talking about playing against big lads in the lower league, not having much time on the ball and being kicked regularly, so although the pace might be faster, he thinks players in the Prem get longer to do something on the ball which will suit his playing style. In the Prem the main difference is it's harder to get the chance to show what you can do.

He's got his chance now, let's hope he takes it and Lambert has spotted a gem.

the quote initially said a shrinking violent, I wondered if we had another Delph! lol (JOKE!) Good words to read, lets hope these lads settle in and do the business for us, be joyful if they can!

Not basing this anything facts whatsoever (!), but I'm most optimistic about this signing. He talks a good game and we've been crying out for a tempo dictating midfielder for a couple of seasons now. The next 6-8 games are going to be so interesting

Borrowing Forrest Gumps' "Life is like a box of chocolates", I agree with son_of_cher. TBH, we know very little about all our last minute signings due to were they have come from so the next 6-8 games should give us a clearer indication of what we've actually got.
