Welcome Back Pedal For Petrov Riders

Off the official site, think this is worth repeating for those who have missed it.......

Fans are invited to the Holte Suite this afternoon to welcome back the Pedal for Petrov riders.

Andy Smith and Alex Butler, along with Geoff Thomas, will finish their epic journey at Villa Park at approximately 5.30pm.

Supporters are more than welcome to pop down to B6 to cheer the trio over the finishing line.

It's been an amazing journey for the club masseurs with six days of cycling from Celtic Park taking its toll on their cardiovascular system.

The club masseurs have been close friends with Petrov ever since his arrival from Celtic in 2006.

Alex and Andy were devastated to learn that the club captain had been diagnosed with acute leukaemia and decided to embark on the Pedal for Petrov ride.

The route has featured stop-offs at several Barclays Premier League clubs including Newcastle United, Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City.

Petrov hopes they get greeted warmly when they return.

He said: 'It is tough. Geoff has been doing a lot of bike rides and he is fit but these two boys have only had a few months to train and prepare for this.

'I hope when they arrive at Villa Park they will have a good crowd and they will feel satisfied with everything they have done.'

Following the journey's end, there will be a special dinner in the Holte Suite.

There will be a champagne reception and a delicious three-course meal for you to enjoy at the dinner, as well as a raffle and auction.

All proceeds raised will be donated to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

The price of a table of ten is £600 including VAT while individual seats are £60 including VAT per person.

To reserve your places please contact Rebecca Starkey by email rebecca.starkey@avfc.co.uk or call 0800 612 0960 (option two).

To donate to Andy and Alex's Pedal for Petrov campaign, text Stan91, followed by the amount you wish to donate, to 70070.

Sterling effort by the lads for a very good cause. Be interesting to see how much their efforts has raised on their journey.
