'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Westwood Focusing On His Football

Deadline day signing Ashley Westwood has admitted his move to Villa came as a surprise, but now he's here he just wants to concentrate on his football.

Speaking to the Official Site Westwood admitted a deadline day transfer was completely new for him having come through the ranks, so he was both excited and a bit nervous, especially with how quick it was all sorted.

'It was an exciting day. It's a massive club, I wanted it done nice and quickly and now I can settle down to my football. It didn't feel real, I went home and got some sleep, but the day was hectic. All of a sudden I'm travelling on the motorway and hearing it on the radio. But I'll push on now and concentrate on my football.'

The new signings are all making the right noises off the pitch, just have to hope they hit the ground running when they get their chance and adjust to their new lives sooner rather than later.

Read on a twitter feed that he is hoping to emulate David Platt...wouldn't be too shabby

If Ashley turns out to be anywhere near as good a Platty was for us, then PL will have unearthed a real gem.

To be honest its the type of player we need at the club who has ambition and drive to succeed and seems quite modest which is rare these days for a pro footballer.
