Cowans - There Are No Excuses
Gordon Cowans has said there are no excuses for how we threw the second half against Southampton in the recent U21 match.
Villa had a commanding 3-0 in the first half, but a very sloppy second half - Cowans' own words - saw the Saints claw it back to 3-3 leaving Sid feeling like the side had been defeated.
Speaking to the Official Site Sid said:
'The first half hour was great, we played good football, got it down, played, created chances. We dominated. We went three up and then we took our foot off the gas, got sloppy and made stupid mistakes. We totally caved in during the second half. The concentration levels need to be higher, it's just not good enough. We had a young side out but we need to learn quickly because that second half performance was not acceptable. There are no excuses, we threw it away.'
I suppose the positives are that we went 3-0 up and the team showed how well they could play. If Cowans can instil in them the concentration and the commitment not to take the pressure off when ahead, there could be good things for them this season again. Yes there are new recruits again this time round and they'll take a little while to bed in, but that should come with time and it's where the more experienced players have to step up and lead by example.

Mine is not far off PoL,mind you it was a size 9 that sorted it out, in fact, 2 size 9's and a size 12,can't remember that much of it,saying that when i came round and found one of the lads who did it,he never forgot me.............
