Clark - Villa Have Points To Prove

As well as gain it has to be said!

Ciaran Clark has said that both he and Villa have got points to prove this season as pundits rally to tip us for the drop, and he believes we made our first, as we gained our first, against Newcastle.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail Clark said that the Newcastle performance was the first of many points the team would prove over the course of the season to those who have written us off.

It would've been nice had he commented also on the biased Match of the Day coverage of the game, which made it look like Newcastle were the unlucky party, but then again, seeing 'shambolic' Hanson have to praise us probably made up for it! Dion was the Dublin though!

'I'm very happy with the goal, it's always nice to score, but I felt we could have got more from the game, but we're happy to take a point. I think we proved a point after the first two games. We started off brightly (West Ham) but never created, and last week (Everton) was a let down. We are much better than that and hopefully we showed that. That's what we're all about and hopefully we can take this result into the next game.'

Clark also hints that he was under instruction from wee Barry Bannan for his goal.

'As soon as the ball came in from Ron, I went up and I heard Barry shout 'flick it', so I flicked it and luckily he was on is own. I thought I'd get in the box and get on the end of it. He couldn't have put the ball in any better.'

You see I don't remember any of that, I just have a vague recollection of the smiley clappy button on the forum :-)

Shutting the mouths of the London circus..... sorry, media is the first thing we have to do. Winning games and gaining points etc from places no-one expects is the way to go about it. Sunday was just the first step. UTV!
