Happy reactions from fans following the 1-1 v Newcastle, bit different to the last fans reaction in PL (v Everton!)
Fair result, MUCH better than our 'performance' v Everton. Gives them something to build on. Ben Arfa's goal was a beauty, but we gave him way too much space. Few decent chances went begging for both sides as well. All in all, I'd have taken that before the game.
The Fear
Yep, if someone said to me 1-1 before the match, I'd of snatched his hand off. Even though we were 1-0 up, I'm happy with the draw. Not happy with all the yellow cards and fouls.
Pride of Lions
I'll take it after the game, Fear.
Gordonsleftboot
what a performance from every villa player on that park today
Villa365247
very pleased with the effort by the lads today, a tough season ahead though. i just hope the signings ease the pressure off the squad
zaijianforth
So so many plusses from today! First point, away from home, top effort, good team work, gabby back and looking sharp. We also haven't seen anything from our new boys yet, Benteke and Bennett especially!
AHAVFC
We played excellently today. Though, it was a little disappointing that we didn't get all 3 points, if you would have asked us if we would have taken a point before the match, nearly all of us would have snapped at it. Our defense was superb and Guzan took his chance wholeheartedly. We even looked a lot more threatening in the final third of the pitch for once! This was the performance we needed to kickstart the season. Bring on Swansea!
KMitch
Well to say we played away at Newcastle how many clear chances did they have really? Bent and Ireland could have scored for us, I'm really happy as I'm disappointed we did not win that's what I'm pleased about lol
ClivetheVillan
Yep, good performance at a place we don't normally do well at. Something to build on. Get Benteke playing next weekend so we can get some of the chances into the net.
Pride of Lions
like watching a different team
monsters
That was 1 million percent better ! Better football, better organisation , better application - just better better better. Weird really after I thought we'd get a pummelling that I am disappointed we didn't win - I think we deserved it. MUST follow this up with 3 points against Swansea.
holtelower
Well pleased with that, much to be happy about.
mc parland
bloody enjoyed that game! proud to be a Villan again. Given is going to find it really hard to come back in the first team. Guzan ftw
jaspervilla
Much better, but plenty of work still to do. Should've been 3 points though.
mike_field
I'd have taken that - 1 point and a much improved performance
Cheshire Villan
well fought Villa, a vast improvement on last season
Fulford
Much better than last week. If we keep improving we will be fine. Loving the fact that Lambert is making the players go over to the away fans. Well done lads.
neilh111
A great result, not one I'd thought we'd see for sure. Well done Lads!
Charizma
Good point in the end but we are so weak in Midfield when the legs start to go. We'd have all settled for this prior to the game but still disappointed not to win it
Villan57
Gabby got into some good positions, Vlaar looked good, Ireland linked up well, Holman worked his bollocks off, Guzan must keep his place!....a good point at a tough place to go!
v1ll4f4n
Well done Villa, battling performance with glimpses of quality. Happy with that.

Still can't see where the goals are going to come from. Don't like this new hard working Darren Bent. I want him in the box poking in goals from 2 yards. Long hard season ahead.
DeanoVilla
Good point but disappointed we couldn't get 3...Would of loved to bag our first win today. Massive improvement but still lots to do, but yeah like I said it was a lot better than our first 2 games and at least we have a point on the board. Looking at the Swansea game now, they are due a loss!! A lot better Defensively and attack today but still lacking that killed ball and finish but remember we have Benteke coming in and Agbonlahor back.
P.Avfc
Fantastic all around effort today, that should silence the critics.
SherlockGT
In terms of game, very pleased with point. Worked hard, defence was solid. Matty Lowton looks a bargain. Guzan is the best goalie we have. Thought the midfield did well, especially Holman who is full of running. And Bent had his best game in claret and blue in terms of team play. Gabby looked very sharp when he came on as did N-Zog to be fair. Excited about having Bent, Gabby and Benteke in our ranks up front. We'll be fine, we should have won today but got a point at a very tough place to come. Its a work in progress. We have 9 new players and a lot have left. Its going to take time and patience but today showed under Paul Lambert we will get there. Was a bit worried before but they showed what they could do. Refreshing to see us passing the ball and creating chances.

Actually this was one of the better games i have seen in almost a year and half -actually really enjoyed watching it.
Pablo1978
Spot on Pablo. Lots of effort and commitment... it will take time but I am full of confidence it will come good!!!!!!

Just spoke to a few other Villa fans, they was p'ssed of about the result. I told them to find a new club to support. What a great team performance. My heart was in my mouth the hole 2nd half, what a great point. Onwards and upwards. Swansea, Southampton and West brom,, maybe 9points? 10points in 5games. Yes please!! Lowton and Holman, My 2 motm.
Blitz
Fantastic result in my view. Villa dominated almost the entire game in terms of chances. They were very composed and organized throughout the whole match especially in defense. The cards and fouls are a result of an inexperienced squad. They will dissipate as the season goes on. Gabby and N'Zog looked very good after coming on. Gabby very composed and N'Zog looked deadly. All in all a great game just a bit unlucky in regards to that Ben Arfa strike. Enjoyed it though.
clbick3
Good result! Villa aren't burdened by high expectations. Yet. The club are arguably in a better position than Liverpool or Spurs who have fans with unrealistic short term hopes. What a difference eight days makes.
VillaWillRiseAgain
Ron Vlaar, Vlaar. He's the new Paul McGrath. He's stronger than Stella Artois. Ron Vlaar, Vlaar.
tebor1978
Proud of Villa today for sure. A difficult place to go, especially after the two defeats...but a great performance, couldn't have asked for much more than that. Looks like a few beers tonight for me...with a smile for once !
MASON_PARKER
So much better, could of easily took all 3 points...Shocked Newcastle I reckon, they probably believed all the clueless pundits constant bashing of us. Does anyone just think that Everton was just a poor game? Is that not an option? We did okay against West Ham, we were the better team so I think we are too quick to look into things. I'm pretty sure we will be okay from relegation if we can match the toon.
p.avfc
Lol, 78!!! If you made that chant up then congrats. Quite amusing. Do hope that 'Concrete' Ron Vlaar also becomes known as the 'Beater'.
VillaWillRiseAgain
Heroes today, all of them. To. A. Man.
koolbill
Clark needed the confidence I guess. Guzan MOTM. Ten seconds of why we should not be selling Gabby Agbonlahor. And its Stephen Ireland's round tonight - all effing night.
malacaxeta
Good point. 9 shots on target. It was October last season before we'd had 9 shots on target. With the score at 1 1 and he brings on Nzogbia and Gabi, this shows that PL would rather go for 3 points than settle for 1.
