Charlie Adam wanted to go to Liverpool too and today he's in Stoke. Dempsey would be ideal for us.

I think this one is too good to be true, as James Nursey said there's alot of smoke and mirrors on transfer deadline day. Hopefully it's legit but if not then I hope PL has an ace up his sleeve and delivers Messi as promised on the day he signed

Embarrassing that this was made public. Were we being used by Fulham to get the money out of the scousers?? Did the Americans with us try to go behind PL's back?? Hopefully we were using Dempsey to get Genke to drop their price.Had us all excited but we could neither afford his wages or fulfill his ambitions by finishing midtable. If Benteke is that good, then he's worth £15 mil. If not then he's not good enough for Villa.

I think Dempsey wants Liverpool so would prefer someone who wants to come to VP, not come as 2nd best option....another MON type signing 30ish for a big fee & no doubt big wages with no sell on value....hope it is a ploy to get Genk to play ball.

...so he will STILL not want to move here. Fulham players now see a move to Villa as a sideways step at best. A bit depressing really. And if people are capable of interpretting us making a bid for Dempsey as brinkmanship to get Benteke, it is equally possible that Liverpool pleading poverty is a way to get Fulham to drop the fee they want for Dempsey. Not whinging for now, just stating a fact.

It's just the typical politicking of the window really, best case scenario is that it makes Genk think we don't want Benteke and they rather cashing in on him and accept our offer, and Clit Dempsey (no typo) rots away in reserves for not Villanising.

Would have been very supprised to see Demsey accept a move to us. Lets face it Fulham are a safer bet than us at the moment so why bother to move ? Maybe in a seasons time and Lambert has his own set of Lions we will be a different propostion.Love Dempsey as a player and would have gladly taken Adam for 5 mill as well.

Always a long shot. He'll go to Liverpool and flop just like some other big names they've had. Downing £20m, Henderson £20m, Carrol £35m. We'll be overtaking them once PL gets his side completed, settled and in form. UTV.
