'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Word On The Tweet - Villa Transfer Talk!

James Nursey ‏@JamesNursey
Hearing #AVFC still after Benteke. Not expecting him to play in Genk`s Europa League tie with Lucerne tonight

Neil Moxley ‏@Neil_Moxley_DM
#avfc have interest in several midfielders - Spearing is one, for instance - but depends which one they can push over the line..

Timothy Abraham ‏@TimothyAbraham
Our mate Christian Benteke has been named in the Belgium squad for their World Cup qualifier against Wales a week tomorrow. #AVFC

Timothy Abraham ‏@TimothyAbraham
I know Lambert is only interested in 'young and hungry' and Berbatov is a bit of a fading force but would be a snip at 4m.

James Nursey‏@JamesNursey
D-day for #AVFC in pursuit of Genk striker Christian Benteke. #AVFCstill want him, the player is keen but will Genk be reasonable?

Ian Taylor ‏@IanTaylor7
#benteke binned training?? If reports are true. Take it he wants to come to #avfc then??!!

Mat Kendrick ‏@MatKendrick
The ball is in Genk's court, #avfc have made an improved offer on their original one and would go a bit higher, but won't be held to ransom

Mat Kendrick ‏@MatKendrick
My understanding of the Benteke situation is that #avfc still want him, but if Genk continue to demand too much they will look elsewhere

Mat Kendrick ‏@MatKendrick
Signing Bennett and targeting Benteke to go with Bent. Is there a surplus of Bs Es Ns and Ts they are trying to shift from the club shop?

********

And on the new signing Joe Bennet:

Aston Villa FC‏@AVFCOfficial
Joe Bennett will wear the No.27 shirt. #AVFC

Ron Vlaar ‏@RonVlaar4
I would like to welcome Joe Bennett to #AVFC! Good luck and excited to have you in the team!!

Marc Albrighton ‏@RealMarc12
All the best to @joebennett27 in his Villa career! I look forward to playing alongside him!

Mat Kendrick ‏@MatKendrick
Apparently, new Villa left-back Joe Bennett models his his forward-thinking style of play on Ashley Cole and Gael Clichy #avfc

Is there a surplus of B, E, N, T's the clubshop is trying to shift. Genius :-)

Down these mean tweets a man must walk. A man who is neither tarnished nor afraid.

Berbatov should most definately have been on Villa's radar. A proved scorer - my only doubt is that he's too like Bent - so we would need a good anchor man to feed them.

the only B-E-N-T trying to shift anything is DB9's cousin PC Bent arf arf. Some things you cant even make up. I suspect the papers put him up to it just because its headline heaven.

in terms of numbers there are not many clubs that have brought in more. Goodb of your list swansea are replacing sinclair, spuds are relacing modric, qpr have gone nuts and have brought an entire squad and sunderland are doing what was expected and taking a big punt on MON like we did. I'd have liked Berbatov but fulham are smashing their wage structure and he's only going there because of Jol. Carroll would have been great but its only a loan. We've lost two defenders and signed three (four if you include young Enda) including 2 full backs where we have been weak for several seasons. We've temporarily lost one midfielder and brought in two and we've lost one forward (loose sense of the word) and if reports are to be believed are looking at bringing one in. It might not set the pulse racing but its sensible business and a steady overhauling of the squad.

The above teams you mention buying to replace players they are losing i.e swansea to replace sinclair, spurs replacing modric. When are we going to replace Barry, Milner, Young and Downing? Just a thought.
