Lambert Pleased With Cup Progress

Lambert Pleased With Cup Progress

Paul Lambert has declared himself pleased after we got past 'tricky' Tranmere last night.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, Lambert said he believed we fully deserved the win, and more importantly, that should be the line we draw when it comes to performance and effort.

'Tranmere gave a really good account of themselves, Ron has got them going really fine in their own league and I am delighted with the team for the win. I thought the third goal was excellent, a really good move.'

The focus now is rightly Newcastle.

'We will give it everything we've got, we have a really hard game on Sunday, we will go and try to win.'

Not much else that can be said really is there. We did the job and we did it in some style irrespective of the opposition. Plenty of teams can come a cropper in the Cup, and most probably thought we would be a favourite for that following the Everton game, so credit to the players for giving us a reaction...that has to be the start though, and we have to pick up a few points in the league so we aren't too far behind as Lambert continues his work on changing the club around.
