Worried About The Attendance? Don't Be!

Deanovilla has started a thread in 100% Vital: Worried about the attendance? Don't be following our 15 391 attendance last night in the Capital One Cup v Tranmere Rovers.

Deano says:

There were 6,000 at QPR last night.

There were 9,000 at Stoke.

There were 9,000 at Swansea.

There were 18,000 at West Ham.

Time to face facts that this competition has become a complete joke and a waste of time. I can't see it last much longer in it's current format. Maybe to the end of the current sponsorship deal.

The only time this comp gets anyone interested is when it gets to the semi-final stage.

A couple of comments in the match stats article comments last night:

I've been in a crowd of 8000 at vp for a div1 game in 85..15000 is nothing.

I find it interesting the number of people who commented on the low gate and who have raised their concerns, but who didn't go themselves. The hypocrisy stinks. It was a fiver for kids at Villa Park under the floodlights. If we were playing Barcelona at £45 a ticket the place would have been full to the rafters. So money isn't the issue. It is the desire. I understand all those who can't go due to location, work etc. A brilliant well done to those who made the effort. But it is very simple. You do cheap seats, fill the ground, more good players want to come to Villa to play in front of an appreciative audience and we improve. Ask your self the question. If you didn't attend last night, would you have if we were playing Barcelona?? If the answer is yes then please do not be offended if your support is called part time or you are labeled as a glory hunter. The most passionate of fans come to Villa Park regardless of the opposition. We go to see the Villa. Some fans are loyal and supportive. Unfortunately we need to improve the number of hard core support. We need to turn the part timers and glory hunters into fans who come all the time. Taking away the 1500 Tranmere fans last night, that means only 14,000 Villa fans turned up. It also means that thousands of fans who are season card holders failed to bother. Forgetting the ills of the world, forget making excuses. There are too many fans who simply can not be bothered, but who are happy to moan and whinge when things are not to their satisfaction. UTV. Well said Deano though if you're into glory hunting then this club is not for you because right now there isn't a lot of glory to be had. Disagree that the competition is a joke. We should take it seriously. it's a chance of Silverware and could offer us a route into the Europa League.

Villa_Grizzly I agree, it's great for clubs like us that have a realistic hope of good progession when it's clearly going to be a transition season for us in the league. If I didn't live so far away I would be a season ticket holder and would have gone

There are 3 trophies to win. The League and the FA Cups or the title. I would say there is a rreasonable chance of us not winning the title. We will draw Manure in the FA Cup third round. So for us it is all about the League Cup. I don't really care what other clubs make of the Cup. We are Aston Villa. We have won it 5 times. The competition is our most realistic chance of silverware. Do not mistake the failings of other clubs and their crap support as an excuse to stop supporting your own club. Should we be fortunate enough to get to the Final I am sure there will be enough part time fans and glory hunters begging the real supporters to help get them tickets. We are the biggest and most succesful club for an 90 mile radius. 15,000 is pathetic. Stop making excuses and start supporting. The fans want new players. What do they expect Randolph to buy them with. Empty Seats?

The League Cup is a shambles, especially since its reputation was damaged beyond repair in 2011

Its kind of funny how its a mickey mouse trophy despite the fact that winning puts you straight into Europe.. Mate is a Liverpool fan and he was quite to win it: 'a trophy is a trophy no matter how you look at it one more in the cabinet and another trip into Europe despite being rubbish all season and finishing the league poorly' Thats how he put it and thats how I would see it.. Micky mouse or not I would happily win this trophy ha

The name is terrible, they should call it The LEAGUE Cup sponsored by blah blah, calling it purely after the sponsor has helped put nails in it's coffin.

just a quick question - we have the EPL and the UCL, also the FAC (remember that one, teleprinter fans...?). So - is this the COC ?

Not that funny for the people that paid good money eh!

I AM going to see Barcelona tonight! Unfortunately they will be playing Real Madrid, not the Villa.
