Another Blow For Gardner

Gary Gardner has suffered another anterior cruciate ligament injury, this time in his right knee, during the recent U21 game against Stoke.

The 20 year old will undergo surgery and is expected to be out for eight to nine months.

Many will remember he suffered the same injury back in 2009 and he'd been working hard to play catch up after his last stretch out, so this will come as a huge blow to the player as he was no doubt looking to really find some form and consistency this season and show everybody what he is capable of doing on the pitch.

Speaking to the Official Site Paul Lambert said.

'It's a blow and it's definitely a blow for the lad but he's very positive and he'll get great attention all the way through his rehab.'

Oh jeez, that lad has no luck at all. Gutted for him.
The Fear
OMG, He is having some torrid luck so far in is fledgling career. Surely it can't get any worse. Good luck Gary, keep positive, you've come back before and will again - stronger. You're still young, so chin up and look forward.

FFS!!!

And there was me thinking this was the season he would make a first team spot for himself
VillaJ
is that the same knee, or was the last one his left?
The Fear
Different one Fear. 99% sure it was his left last time. Right this. Had massive hopes for this lad. He will need a LOT of character. Still, Brian Robson broke his leg twice as a teenager from memory, and he wasn't too bad
krfeskivilla
i have a dodgy right knee too... luckily i do IT not football... Feel sorry for the fella, really thought he would be our midfield dynamo this season.
maigrait
Damn it. Great shame, yes he will need character but he'll get every help. Years ago there would be no way back from this, there is now. To do two though and at such a young age is almost unbelievable. Good luck Gary.

Noooo! I really thought he was going to establish himself this year- midfield is the only place we have the depth for the rotation lambert likes to employ. Poor chap must be so hacked off. It was indeed his other knee last time. A real real prospect, what a shame. We're joint top of the league of injuries now I just read!
revolutionatlast
Just what we need.
olofthegreat
He is of course devastated, but very determined and positive about the future.
fisherman194
that sucks - and also means we need to buy 1 more someone. i saw him playing some games this year.
malacaxeta
Terrible shame for him, I hope he recovers well, we won't really miss him this year though has he hadn't really looked any good in the first team yet, but like others I thought he would break through this year, I fear a real stuffing tomorrow from Everton just to cap our bank holiday off :((

So to sum we haven't signed anyone this week and one of our most promising talents has done his knee again, poor kid. Another lost season of development and experience. Hope to see you fit again soon GG.
Villa_Grizzly
What rotten luck. Had to write twice as I really feel for him. Imagine being 19 and that happens to you.
Villa_Grizzly
on the plus side he cannot do his third knee! Rotten luck for the highly rated youngster. Let's hope he is able to come back from this also.

Gutted for the lad...
daveyboyr
Unbelievable.
Winsforvilla
Gutted for him - feel pessimistic saying this but it's hard to have the hope that he'll now ever come back and be the sort of player we'd like him to be after 2 of these types of injuries.
