Villa Transfer Talk - Dunne & Dusted?

Villa Transfer Talk - Dunne & Dusted?

Just a couple of snippets today. Afraid the snippets are about players linked outward not inward.

The twitter world was going mad yesterday because apparently a black player was driven to Bodymoor Heath. Not sure how anyone knows it was a player, but hey ho...! No names emerged.

I also can`t understand why some are getting upset that Sunderland have agreed to pay £12million (surely £6million too much?) for Wolves player Steven Fletcher BUT yes, I would like a few more links for players inward, in fact sod the links, I`d like to see them in the shirt on the pitch!

The Daily Mail say that Richard Dunne is set for a move to Stoke City before the end of this transfer window (midnight Aug 31st).

The 32-year-old has just one year left on his contract.

When we asked if you would sell Dunne in a poll we got these results:

Poll Date: 12 Aug 2012
Suggested By: JP Fear

I'd drive him out of VP myself 57%
Yes, for the right price 28%

No 14%
Unsure 1%

The Daily Mail also state the obvious that Stephen Warnock has also been pushed towards the exit door. The 30 year old has apparently been offered to both Blackburn and Sunderland.

Is he being judged too harshly?

Opted stats from last season:
Most interceptions
1. Stephen Warnock (Aston Villa) 103
2. Youssuf Mulumbu (West Brom) 101
3. Stilian Petrov (Aston Villa) 97

Not sure I agree with the players being pushed so far away that they don`t always train with the main squad, but at the moment I`m reading I Am The Secret Footballer (lifting the lid on the beautiful game) and it seems most managers do this to prove they are the boss. Of course, if you have big enough bollox, you don`t have to play games and prove anything.

I do think Collins, Dunne and Warnock weren`t the greatest influences in the dressing room, so won`t be sorry when they`ve all gone, however..............

Football, funny old game innit.

Hopefully the next transfer article has a few links in, or maybe we`ll be able to be talking about a new signing or two!

Simple, DONT sell him UNLESS we get TWO Central Defenders in. We have already lost our best two and replaced them with one. We need two more! Oh and a left back! Make that 3!! Panic!

Let's not warn Sunderland at all. On the Dunne thing- brave thing to do- selling your whole back line in August. Will need another centre back to replace him.

Sunderland will be bust next year, MON will walk out 5 days before the season starts saying "you cant match my ambitions!" MUG

suspect that if these deals out do happen it will create the space on the wage bill that PL needs to finalise some inward moves.

Personally, I'd prefer to get rid of Mutton and Warnock and keep Dunne for 12 months. He'd be ideal to have on the bench in case of injuries.

Warnock is one of the worst defenders I've seen in my time watching Villa. He's positionally useless. Whilst, on the face of it, his interception stats might appear impressive, I'd like to see them alongside the stats for the number of times he was beaten by a diagonal over his head. A lot of his interceptions are made because he's tucked in too tight and has made a last ditch lunge to stop the ball finding the winger. Other teams have seen this and exploited it time and time again. During the "houllier team building argument gate" Dunne was one of the main protagonists. He'd had a few scoops and piped up that they'd never improve until "That lazy black ****er over there starts pulling his weight”, referring to Gabby, of course. It was at that point Delph got involved. So, in my humble opinion, good riddance to bad rubbish.

I'd love to see Dunne gone, I don't think he is a good influence at all but if we have to wait a year for his contract to end, then fine, might as well use when needed. Same with Warnock, if they can't sell, you might as well get some use, strange how he has been totally frozen out. Then again, we don't always get the full story or reasons obviously.
