Villa Transfer Talk - Dunne & Dusted?

Just a couple of snippets today. Afraid the snippets are about players linked outward not inward.

The twitter world was going mad yesterday because apparently a black player was driven to Bodymoor Heath. Not sure how anyone knows it was a player, but hey ho...! No names emerged.

I also can`t understand why some are getting upset that Sunderland have agreed to pay £12million (surely £6million too much?) for Wolves player Steven Fletcher BUT yes, I would like a few more links for players inward, in fact sod the links, I`d like to see them in the shirt on the pitch!

The Daily Mail say that Richard Dunne is set for a move to Stoke City before the end of this transfer window (midnight Aug 31st).

The 32-year-old has just one year left on his contract.

When we asked if you would sell Dunne in a poll we got these results:

Poll Date: 12 Aug 2012
Suggested By: JP Fear

I'd drive him out of VP myself 57%
Yes, for the right price 28%

No 14%
Unsure 1%

The Daily Mail also state the obvious that Stephen Warnock has also been pushed towards the exit door. The 30 year old has apparently been offered to both Blackburn and Sunderland.

Is he being judged too harshly?

Opted stats from last season:
Most interceptions
1. Stephen Warnock (Aston Villa) 103
2. Youssuf Mulumbu (West Brom) 101
3. Stilian Petrov (Aston Villa) 97

Not sure I agree with the players being pushed so far away that they don`t always train with the main squad, but at the moment I`m reading I Am The Secret Footballer (lifting the lid on the beautiful game) and it seems most managers do this to prove they are the boss. Of course, if you have big enough bollox, you don`t have to play games and prove anything.

I do think Collins, Dunne and Warnock weren`t the greatest influences in the dressing room, so won`t be sorry when they`ve all gone, however..............

Football, funny old game innit.

Hopefully the next transfer article has a few links in, or maybe we`ll be able to be talking about a new signing or two!

I see MON is paying over the odds on British players. I wonder where else he has done that !!! ?
sirdennis
should somebody warn sunderland where this is taking them!
lartinmaurson
Simple, DONT sell him UNLESS we get TWO Central Defenders in. We have already lost our best two and replaced them with one. We need two more! Oh and a left back! Make that 3!! Panic!
leelindsay
Let's not warn Sunderland at all. On the Dunne thing- brave thing to do- selling your whole back line in August. Will need another centre back to replace him.
Villa_Grizzly
Sunderland will be bust next year, MON will walk out 5 days before the season starts saying "you cant match my ambitions!" MUG
leelindsay
Grizzly - what about the one to replace Carlos?
leelindsay
suspect that if these deals out do happen it will create the space on the wage bill that PL needs to finalise some inward moves.
AVbornandbred
Personally, I'd prefer to get rid of Mutton and Warnock and keep Dunne for 12 months. He'd be ideal to have on the bench in case of injuries.
Pride of Lions
Warnock is one of the worst defenders I've seen in my time watching Villa. He's positionally useless. Whilst, on the face of it, his interception stats might appear impressive, I'd like to see them alongside the stats for the number of times he was beaten by a diagonal over his head. A lot of his interceptions are made because he's tucked in too tight and has made a last ditch lunge to stop the ball finding the winger. Other teams have seen this and exploited it time and time again. During the "houllier team building argument gate" Dunne was one of the main protagonists. He'd had a few scoops and piped up that they'd never improve until "That lazy black ****er over there starts pulling his weight”, referring to Gabby, of course. It was at that point Delph got involved. So, in my humble opinion, good riddance to bad rubbish.
born-not-made
I'd love to see Dunne gone, I don't think he is a good influence at all but if we have to wait a year for his contract to end, then fine, might as well use when needed. Same with Warnock, if they can't sell, you might as well get some use, strange how he has been totally frozen out. Then again, we don't always get the full story or reasons obviously.
The Fear
Totally agree with born-not-made...the pair of them cost us points last season...Dunne is the slowest defender I've ever seen..and Warnock...well, he is absolute pants....how anyone can want him to stay is beyond me.

Great News for me,Warnock unne Collins maybe Hutton ll gone its likeim dreamin a sweet dream ;) Now ambert can concentrate on getting the much needed quality inwards, Im really impressed how he sussed out straight away the trouble makers and axed them taking no prisners, Oh and Fear why keep Dunne Warnock for an extra 12 months mate get em of the wage bill as Dunne would only score more own goals give away silly penalties and Warnock well pf the above Villans says it all e is useless at positioning
clivethevillan
Glad to see the back of Dunne one good performance every now and again is not what we need. Our chances of shipping Hutton out do not look good though, what is it about Villa and bloody full backs we have only just got rid of Beye who warmed the bench for 3-4 years and we end up with another one to take his place.

I'm positively delighted Sunderland are paying £14m (that was the price I read) for Fletcher. Waste someone else's money Martin, slowly the footballing world will realise you aren't the godlike genius that the press (and YOU) make you out to be. Something about the man tells me he isn't so frivolous with his own money. I bet he shops at Aldi.
lurman
dunne is definitely stoke.
malacaxeta
Personally I think Fletcher's well worth that. Cracking player, very underrated in my book; scores a good number of goals for poor teams, brings others into play and is still 25. I've also never understood the level of flack Warnock gets, he's a very solid full-back in my book. Ah well, whatever. I just hope we bring some players in to replace the exodus or we're gonna end up with no squad left!
SchoolBoyError
Im torn because I was really impressed with dunne, Collins and warnock under MON. Perhaps they should have been more disciplined given their huge wages rtc but ultimately it just sounds like they were as hacked off with houllier and McLeish as the fans. It must have been a frustrating time. I can't believe nobody thinks dunne could recapture his form under lambert? I know he might not but he was rock at city and we were calling him the transfer of the window when we got him. For me, last 2 years should be a write off. Otherwise he's someone else randy blew £6m on and got nothing back. No wonder he's keeping the purse strings tight!
revolutionatlast
Liked Collins but the other 2 can jog on. It only takes 1 bad apple to spoil the rest etc. What I believe Reo-Coker did also. Agree Schoolboy. If Dawson to QPR is worth 9mil then a goalscorer is surely worth a bit more. Bent isn't twice as good as him either and some mugs paid £24 mil for him!!!
Villan444
V444 - You doth protest too much! I think you really rate Bent and from now on every comment you make about him being not good or a one touch wonder - I know in actual fact you mean the opposite - your secret is safe with me - won't tell a soul - noone - diddly.
koolbill
Lol bill. I managed to squeeze a moan about Bent in just for you, Even though it was totally unrelated!! ;-)
Villan444
All good selling and refreshing but we need replacements!!
AdzVilla11
Funny stuff V444, I cottoned onto it though...keep it coming mate. Would you have Robbie back?
