An Interview With An Everton Fan 22/8/12

An Interview With An Everton Fan 22/8/12

Hopefully we'll get a string of these again this season if I keep my finger on the pulse and remember when we are playing :-) Everton first up!

With thanks to Yak at Vital Everton.

1) What are you expecting from the season?

Hoping for either some silverware or a league finish that qualifies for Europe.

2) Were there any highlights or lowlights from your pre season?

Tony Hibbert, if you're not aware already I suggest a visit to youtube.

3) Are there any interesting transfers you expect to complete before the close of the window?

I wasn't expecting to see us as busy as we have been already so I couldn't possibly guess.

4) Has anybody left who you think has seriously weakened the team?

On a match-by-match basis, possibly not, but I am disappointed to see Jack Rodwell go as I think we could have built our midfield around him for years to come.

5) Who is going to be your main dangerman when we play?

6) What are your weaknesses, any clues for the game will be appreciated :-)

Our weakness had always been a lack of firepower up front, we had the team to control and dominate possession but not enough nous up front to take advantage. I think we've dealt with that now and look a very balanced outfit.

7) Will you have anyone out who would otherwise play?

Right now, touch wood we are looking good.

Now with a slightly more Claret and Blue angle...

8) Are you surprised to see how Villa struggled last season and do you think we will again this time round?

It didn't surprise me, I see yourselves a bit like us and in recent years we've both been in decline a bit. We've hopefully turned a corner now but I don't know enough about Villa to suggest you have done the same.

9) Do you have any thoughts on Paul Lambert?

He's worked his way up through the leagues and did a great job with Norwich. Bit of a step up to you and only time will tell if its a step to far.

10) What have you made of our youth promotions last/this season, anybody caught the eye for you?

Is Marc Albrighton one? If so I've liked the look of him.

11) Who has stood out most from our recent acquisitions for you?

Jean II Makoun but only because of his name.

12) If you could take one of our players, who would it be and why?

Darren Bent, proven goal scorer.

13) Who do you see as our main threat in the game?

Darren Bent.

14) Where would you say our current weaknesses are in terms of how you will approach the match?

Looking at your squad there are not many players who like for like I would swap into our starting line-up, so overall quality is lacking in your squad for me and I think our build up play and system will be enough to take the points.

15) Finally, a prediction please kind sir...

2-0 Everton

Yak also opened up the questions to Vital Everton members and you can view their responses - makes for an interesting and level headed read on how we are viewed following the last two seasons if I do say so myself - by Clicking Here.

Possibly the most confident I've seen Everton fans in a long time with reference to the questions about them also.

One win albeit United but with two defenders from Midfield and season opener and already fickle fans from up North! I can't wait for Ron Vlaar and our young bunch to wear your old boys out as we run rings around you!

The Everton fans are a level headed bunch be interesting to see how they fair with a decent start yes they are confident after their performance against Utd. but they looked good and think we can understand that.We have been a jinx team for them in the past but feel we up against it this time.

You've got to go for a win haven't you...... haven't you? My heart says 2-1 Villa, but my head is saying 1-1.

Villa 2-1, perfect time to knock off Everton. UTV

Unlike last season, when I thought we had no chance of a win in any game, my naturally optimisic self is back and I can't see us not winning. I refuse to waste my time thinking we are going to loose and the missery that comes with it. Been there and done that last season, this season we have a proper manager and a proper chance of winning any game.

Everton fans seem VERY confident of winning easily. Good. They reckon none of our players would get into their side. We may not have names that are star players YET, but there is massive potential there IMO. Everton did look very good v United, but write Villa off at your peril

Be an interesting game, I'm not confident of a win I must admit.

Fellaini only turns up against the big teams...that's what I'm telling myself anyway. Isn't Jelavic injured? 1-1 is my prediction. Possibly 0-1.
22/08/2012 18:03:00
Nice interview...Without being too negative I expect Everton to be the faves here, impressed me on Monday and Fellaini will be the danger man. I expect RobEFC to be swanning around here Friday, Sat and Sun whatever the result, always seem to disagree after every Villa and Everton game, I look forward to it.

Seemed pretty fair to me & following Mondays display by them I hope the 'jinx' we have over them remains in place
