'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fans Deserve Better

Stephen Ireland has said the fans deserve better than what we've seen over the past few seasons, and he adds the team are determined to reward us this time round.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail Ireland said he knows the team have let the club and the fans down over the past few years, but he believes Paul Lambert has more than got us back on track, and the fans will see that reaction and desire in every game this season.

'Our tactics in the last couple of seasons were clearly wrong because we were fighting relegation, but I'm really confident that's not going to happen again. The confidence in the players is sky high and it's nice to see because I think the club deserve better and the fans deserve better than what's been happening. I think it's going to be a really positive season for us at this club.'

Ireland goes on to add that Lambert is all about the football in training, and tellingly (for me anyway) he adds.

'I know he's only been here for a few weeks but you can already tell that players are developing. You can see the boys are willing to have the ball under pressure. There's no hiding anymore. You can't hide behind certain players or rely on certain players to win the ball anymore, we all have to do it for the team.'

Seems Lambert's biggest battle in getting rid of the 'I's' has been won, and the performances in pre season do reflect that to be fair.

As long as we see this talk replicated on the pitch, I think we'll all be happy.

Sure the fans deserve better and I'm sure we'll get it, if not just seeing some attractive football. We may win a few more matches too, but don't expect a raft of goals I'd say, because DB9 can't do it all on his own.

Can't wait to the PR stops and the football actually begins.

Problem is Pride that Bent wants to do it all on his own. He cannot play with another striker. What happens if he gets injured and we've then got 3 half decent forwards with no game time/confidence etc.????

I think whether N'zogbia turns up or not will have a massive effect on our season

Amen, we do. So do some of the players who weren't played right. Hopefully this season all will be much much better!
