I agree with you both, however, if PL ain't gonna be adding to this relatively weak squad, I'd have to say keep him this season as cover...... and I originally voted to get rid!

Only if PL brings in an experienced CB, otherwise as Pride said, we really would have to keep him. I'm in a seemingly shrinking minority that thinks he's still a very good defender (with the right head on of course).

Richard has lots of heads AVbornandbred, he's a bit like Worzel Gummidge, although he seems to have lost his "decent defender" head over the past few seasons lol.

I go back to what I have always said with regards to players and new managers. Ignore what happened last season when he who can not be named was in charge. This season every Villa player should have a clean slate. Where one manager fails, another can get colossal performances from the same team. We are lightweight at the back. Collins has gone. The fact he was pi$$ed allegedely most of the US pre season tour saw to that. But we do not know how Clarke, Vlaar, Baker, Lowton and Herd (Lamberts preferred 4th choice centre back) are going to cope. We do know that with a proper manager pulling his strings that Dunne is a good centre back. Personally I think it would be unwise to get rid unless we have a good replacement or were offered silly money for him. Please wipe last season out of your memory and think afresh.

As ever VOTH you speak sense on here and i agree wih 99% of what you say however when you say wipe last season out your heads and start afresh fair enough but it was also the season before Dunne was inconsistant and caused all that trouble under GH at that Leicseter Spa resort whilst on a break and he even admitted he wa that pizzed he could not remember much about the arguing that night? That sticks inmy mind thats why i want him out and am glad Collins is gone but i see what you mean about needing experiance i just Prey we get some more experianced players in and then we can kiss this poor lack of respect players that we ended up with goodbye :) UTV!

I am another member of the get rid club, mind you am slightly bias as I didnt want him in the first place having said that gave us 2 good seasons. Prefer Baker as cover but still feel we are very light on numbers and lacking that quality midfielder to really make a difference. But do accept that it is going to take PL acouple of seasons to turn things round and build his own team.
