How Good Is Our Youth System?

Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by d8ost:

Is our youth system really as good as we think it is?
Poll Date: 07 Aug 2012

And the results?

A fair split to be fair! I personally think we are about to really find out over the next 2-3 seasons as we have a very promising crop just breaking through!

Yes, we bring through some class players 49%

No we are biased, its not as good as we think 45%

Didn't think it was that good anyway 3%

Unsure 3%

would have been even better if that numpty hadn't gone against the youth set up pleadings and kept Cahill.

We've got new facilities but you get the impression that the methods are 10 years old. Can't change into Barca/Arsenal overnight but football has moved on and we need to aswell, to get the most out of players.

something else (like the stadium) that they should throw money at because its only win win (attract and create good players for very little money in comparison to buying them, keep them and/or sell them for big profit later on eg Barry, Cahill :). The money should also be spread around the local area more to better capture those at the entry level that actually want to play for Villa eg because they are Villa.

Went for unsure as I don't think they've had a proper chance yet to show off their ability. We should have a much better idea after this season. It's a massive year for the 1st lot who broke through....Bannan, Clark, Albie, Herd, Lichaj and Delph. Sink or swim times boys, sink or swim. As always im over optimistic for the next bunch (Gardner, Carruthers, Johnson etc) and they are no doubt the next Rooney's/Gerrard's!
