Vlaar And Lambert On The Major Signing Today

Vlaar Vlaar Vlaar!

Or Aston Vlaar...

Or not.

Loads of quotes on www.avfc.co.uk/ now 27-year-old Dutch international defender Ron Vlaar has signed for Villa.

He will wear the No4 shirt btw.

'I am looking forward to following in the footsteps of players such as Paul McGrath, Olof Mellberg and Martin Laursen, of course - all of them great players for this club,'

What a proud history of great defenders we have. Glad he knows the footsteps he is following and if the plaudits from Feyenoord are anything to go by, I`m sure he can.

He added with reference to the Claret and Blue army... 'Over time I hope my relationship with the fans at Villa becomes the same as it was at Feyenoord. I was at Feyenoord for seven years and the fans were good for me. It would be great to experience the same here and I will strive to achieve this.'

And Paul Lambert has said:

'Ron is a really good defender"

I should leave the quotes at that really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He added, before being so rudely interrupted "and he has a wealth of experience for both Holland and a big football club in Feyenoord, so I'm delighted we have got him here to Villa."

Lambert also says Vlaar is hungry. The more of those we get in the squad the better. Some were drifting over the last few seasons, it looks very clear there will be no passengers under Lambert and lets be honest, as fans, we`ll respond with loads of noise if we can see the players care as much as us.

Vlaar says again that it is a dream move.

I was hoping for a nice quiet trip to the club shop Friday afternoon, grab a couple of things (anyone know when the new tracksuits are coming out for kids?). Low and behold there's a bloody shirt signing there now....miserable aren't I..?
ormskirk
Lol, admit it, you'll love it ormskirk......It's like Christmas come early isn't it?! Santa only needs to get us a LB and a quality striker and that'll be it for now.....
Pride of Lions
So we sign a new quality defender but let our only defender worth keeping out the door.... Why not offer Collins a new contract? Our back pairing would be better with this guy and Collins and not Dunne who sadly can't get much better next season. He's past his best and he's slower than a Cart Horse.

If I can get my sons wallet signed I'll love it..there its in writing..oh and I think it will probably be Clark and Vlaar...."Calrk and Vlaar M'lord, Clark and Vlaar...Clark and Vlarr M'Lord clark and Vlaar"!
ormskirk
Ooh Aah Ronnie Vlaar, said Ooh Aah Ronnie Vlaar! Definitely a trade up from Collins who, for a big bloke, was poor in the air. It was like his head was the shape of a fifty pence piece. Agree with the comments about Dunne though. If he hasn't knuckled down in training and got himself fit, other teams will target him and we could ship a few goals. Hopefully it will be Clark and Vlaar anyway. Stop giving me positive news Villa. I'm starting to yearn! :-)

Loving that Ormskirk "Clark n Vlaar M'Lord, Clark n Vlaar". Rolls of the tongue nicely.

Well for the start of the Season it will defo be Clarke and Vlaar... Id like to see another CB come in myself but it could be the case that he's giving Clarke the benefit of the doubt this season... In January or the following summer Dunne will be shipped if he doesnt reproduce his best when called upon... Im all for seeing Cresswell come in for Warnock too...

Uhh Ahh Ron Vlaar, i said Uhh Ahh Ron Vlarr!!

Who's next then? can we expect any more signings... Bent will be needing help upfront this season and to be fair i just dont think Gabby cuts it anymore.... Weimann, Fonz be serious!!
